JV or Wests Tigers

If one side of the JV needs to buy the other than so be it.

However if Wests want to keep the brand Tigers, that should come at a good price.

What price?

A representation on the board would be a good start.

Why is that too much to ask, it seems the NRL and Wests want to just take the Tigers brand…....no they should pay for it.

So let me get this straight. The Magpies are the villains in all of this, and its their fault that Balmain are on the verge of extinction? haha, now just imagine if the shoe was on the other foot for a moment, and it was the Magpies who were on the verge of extinction and the old Magpies were blaming Balmain for it, could you imagine the replies? Magpie fans have had the stigma of being whingers pretty much since the JV was established, it seems now the tables are starting to turn. Man up and take some responsibility for your clubs plight, instead of trying to blame everyone else.

Will you at least answer two questions?

Do you acknowledge balmain covered wests (financially) in the first 3 yrs of the WT.

Do you want yo see balmain remain viable?

Tottie there is no truth in Balmain covering Wests and WT in the first 3 years. If you have proof I'd like to see it. What I understand is WT blew $8 Million in the first 3 years of the JV, that money was from the NRL to start the JV. Question is, who was in charge and irresponsible to blow these funds?

I worked at the WT at the time. I dont have paperwork as i dont work thete anylonger but can only advise that extra funds were provided ( while the $8m was being thrown around like confetti) by Balmain and wests were unable to provide as much do to constraints. The total amount was approx $1m. Again not a game changer but enough.

I ask my questions because i believe ( maybe incorrectly) that most old wests fans do not want balmain to die.

I would say that the joint venture owns the name as it would be probably registered to them , so I would imagine that whoever owns the licence owns the name.
What the hell would Balmain want the name for anyway????
In the event of Wests taking over the J/V , Balmains would no longer have a team in the nrl. ( not that what I want to see that happen)
If that happened though they probably would'nt have a club to put the name on anyway

Not really understanding the concept huh champ? Wests tigers and the logo licences are basically owned by the nrl… Balmain doesn't own the new tigers logo, nor can it call the shots on the rights for the use of the word 'tiger'. The same as 'wests'.

Simple

Balmain and Wests are joint owners of the name WT. If one partner can't contribute financially how will it help selling a brand that is owned by both to the other. Remember no sale can be made without agreement from both partners. Personally I think if the Wests group assumed full control, there will be no brand change. Best for both parties. I also hope if this did happen, Wests provide Balmain JRL with ongoing funds.

why though? they're not playing anymore. obviously i respect our history and am proud of it, but balmain folding doesn't mean anything in terms of real world impacts. at least none i can see.

Find it interesting the Balmain people on here saying if tigers goes there gone. Don't blame them thats why us magpie people on here don't want us referred as only the tigers wearing black and gold. These things are important.

Obviously many Balmain people were very comfortable with the way the club was portrayed and having chosen the nrl option and seeing there's no special love there they are a bit worried.

Things will just even up a little we won't take you over like you guys would have done.

Now I see us as a JV.

We are the business venture of two foundation clubs who wanted to stay in the nrl and keep making money that way.

We are not a club. We are just a business. There is not a feeling of community. For those who were ex balloon or ex wests, they still have the balmain or wests leagues club.

I don't feel like I belong to any club and Not sure about others who don't have any past affiliations but I have a feeling they think the same way.

Just interested Magpie Mike what your grievances have been in regard to what needs to be evened up. I have just been blindly following the team since its inception completely unaware till recently that there was a feeling among some Magpie supporters that the team was portrayed favouring one side before the other. I was under the impression that the board was evenly represented and that the control ie "chair" was altered to one side of the JV after a nominated period.

Good, because the way I'm feeling with how some of the supporters of the supposedly wests tigers are acting, are as disrespectful as my post!

I still have my bumble bee tigers jersey.. But I now wear my wests tigers jerseys to games because that's the team I am now supporting. People feuding who is better or worse from one side of the venture from the other are disgusting!
I respect my elders, I respect my heritage and family values that have been passed down to me from both sides of my family.. To be a better person today and for tomorrow!!

The same should be with this club today, respect both sides of what they achieved individually up until 1999, think about how much they both struggled on and off the field (there were high points too) and now work together to make a better life as a club for today and tomorrow, one trying to turn left, one trying to turn right were never going to help this club moving forward… The supporters still doing so arnt helping this situation... It's disgusting.. It's the same as in house fighting that us supporters have been putting up with since 99!

Let's all move in the one direction together.. Not walking into the future arguing who said and done what in the past!! It just doesn't make sense!!
