Kearney gone?

Gone. Confirmed! Well accoring to the Sydney Morning Herald. Likely press conference tomorrow.

In all seriousness. The less said about that joke of a club and it's prized chimpanzee filled board room, the better.

Feel sorry for the bloke! Imagine working for that shambles of an establishment .

For a club that was reportedly still chasing Luke Lewis (albeit most likely unsuccessfully), this about sums the eels board up. Absolute imbeciles! I know a few Parra fans, feel really sorry for them. Kearney will get another gig, he's not a bad coach, just a coach at a really poorly run club.

Stephen Kearney's time as Parramatta coach is over. Fairfax has been told that at a meeting between Kearney and club officials yesterday it was decided Kearney would not see out his time at the club.
It is understood Kearney will announce his resignation at a media conference tomorrow, but that he has effectively been sacked after failing to get the team to fire in his first two seasons.
Kearney, who was contracted until the end of next season, is expected to depart either straight away or after a farewell game as coach against Melbourne at Parramatta Stadium on Saturday night.
There has been speculation NSW State of Origin coach Ricky Stuart could replace Kearney as coach next year, but he has more recently been strongly linked to Canberra. It is anticipated recently appointed assistant coach Chris Anderson and Brad Arthur will take charge of the team in the short term.

It has been well documented that Kearney has a clause in his contract allowing for a full year's payout if it is terminated, but what conditions he and the club have worked out now is not clear.
The Eels are on the bottom of the table as they prepare to meet the competition-leading Storm. They only narrowly avoided the wooden spoon last season.

Shame really… Took on a basket case of a club where the egos in the front office are just as big as those on the field. He was destined to fail.

I would love to have had him here. At least he makes players accountable and isn't afraid of upsetting the club hierarchy. So many players over the past few years could have done with a stint in reggies.

I sometimes feel sorry for him as he inherited a dreadful roster on the back of one of the worst recruitment drives in years. Then I remember his tackle and it all goes away, grub.

In all seriousness Parra are a complete basket case and they are going to need a very special coach to turn this all around. I just hope the Blues don't lose Ricky Stuart to this rabble. I can't see them making the finals next year (and they probably won't make it the year after that either).

Parramatta are the biggest joke of a club. Heck I'd rather be coaching or playing for the GWS every week than be involved in that steaming pile.

Eels fans may have to endure another 3 years of a 're-building' phase. Next year's coach will have to deal with signings made this year then put in his own 2 seasons of purchases.

Tim Sheens would actually be the perfect fit for them at the moment… I remember when he came to the Tigers in '03 he said something along the lines of '2003 we wont make the finals, 2004 we'll make the 8, 2005 we'll be up there'. If anyone can turn around a club with no direction on and off the field, he's your guy.

I'll start taking bets on how long the next coach will be in for

1 Season: $2.50
2 Seasons: $1.90
3 Seasons: $3.10
4 Seasons: $4.00
5+ Seasons: $100

Parra's forum are saying new coach sticky or langmack new coach but if I was them I'd be trying to poach folks they need an old hand to sort through the crap

Hard to argue with that CB. I think he's got potential as a coach and the Kiwi boys certainly talk him up at test level, but looking at the way the Eels play and their current roster, well they're on struggle street and they don't have a great deal to look forward to with their NYC squad also struggling.

tbh, not just at parramatta, but in the entire NRL, i think coaches are given too much power.. for e.g. there is a separation of powers in every legal system and i think the failure of that is holding RL back.

too much blame is given to the coach when a team fails and too less when a team performs well.
imo, a coach is a team manager and not a player manager… he shouldn't be concerned too much about who signs with the club and who leaves the club, must be focused on how the team performs ON the field week in-week out.

that separation of power i think is missing at all clubs in the NRL and sooner the division of these powers happen, the better for the whole RL community
