Keith Lulia signs for 2014

I don't mind the signing at all. Good size, footwork and defence from the highlights I saw, and we need decent depth players which Lulia certainly is.

I don't understand all those asking why we need another centre

Outside backs we are loosing this year
Blake Ayshford
Lote tuqiri
Matt Utai
Possible Joel reddy

Gains
Pat Richards
Keith lulia

So we lost 4 outside backs and gained 2 fairly obvious why he was needed

Agree with madunit. I'd be going after:
Jason toumolomo
Jacob lillyman
Trent Hopkinson
Obviously depends on salary cap but surely we have some room now, less Marshall, ashford, tuquri, utai, bell, reddy, pettybourne.
Also think Richards should get 1st crack at fullback, we need size on kick return

This guy is a good signing, I don't see why people are complaining, we are going to have so much depth in the backline next year…

FG:

1\. James Tedesco
2\. Marika Koroibete
3\. David Nofoaluama
4\. Pat RIchards/Chris Lawrence
5\. Tim SImona

NSW Cup:

1\. Kurtis Rowe
2\. Taqele Naiyavaro
3\. Keith Lulia
4\. Chris Lawrence/Pat Richards
5\. Jy Hitchcox/Allan Mcgrath

Meaney at 6 because we have so much depth...I am looking forward to next year so much.

I agree. One of the impressive things about Souths is that even though they've had quite a few 1-5 injuries they've always been able to replace them with equally good players. We were never really able to do that (ESP. With Utai who'd be good if he was a bit taller) but with this many decent backs we're looking good I reckon.

decent signing.
will be stoked to play back in the NRL i'd say.

spoke to him before he left for ESL and he wasn't too excited.
expect big things from him. (think: sam moa 2013)

Thing is we had similar depth this year, probably the quality was lacking but the issue this year by and large has been INJURIES. if we can get them sorted we can make the 8 with ease. In future years we're relying more on our young players to develop which is what we are banking on getting us in the 4.

Saw a stat like 8 rounds ago which said, the team with the least changes to their roster since round 1 has been souths (1st on table) followed by melbourne (2nd at the time) and you can guess who had the most changes and we were last at the time. injuries is crucial to winning a premiership.

I was a fan of Keith back when he played for Newy, he is a dangerous ball runner and a rock solid defender, those here who are bagging his signing obviously haven't seen much of him in action, hes quality.

I remember a mate of mine being rightly pissed off when the Knights let him go.

He's better than Ayshford.

Great addition to the roster. I hear a lot of "rubbish.. we've already got better centres", "where does he fit in", "wont make the 17" etc.

Some fans don't seem to realise that the coach is trying to build a competitive SQUAD. Thats what the top teams have, players who can slot in and get the job done when the inevitability of injuries strike - which is something we seem to struggle with each season.

You can't fill the whole roster top to bottom with kids. You need some old heads.. some experience waiting in the wings in case one of our young guns is low on confidence and needs a spell in NSW cup for a couple of weeks.

He's a quality signing IMO, he'll come in handy and is probably on a pretty modest contract.

Just watching Bradford v HullFC. The commentators mentioned Lulia's move back to Australia. And said something along the lines of the offers been withdrawn, he may well be staying put.
Might not be a bad thing. In 30 minutes of football, he's touched the ball twice, dropping it once. He hasn't looked interested in moving past the 20m scrum line.

Miller, Ellis and Mcdonnell are all playing for Hull, Miller looks more comfortable calling the shots and seems a lot more involved. However in the first 10 he's put one kick out on the full, 2 dead and one easy catch with no pressure. Ellis doesn't look like the same player, he's been smashed with the ball a few times.

Is Utai playing for Wests Tigers next year?

Was just watching the Bradford game now where Lulia is playing and they said during commentary that there was word his contract with us has been withdrawn and he may be staying with the bulls.
It did sound as though they were reporting on rumour not fact but none the less must be something in it,anyone else heard similar?

I only quickly heard it during the commentary ,more or less he might be staying in Bradford due to contract being withdrawn, but didn't elaborate too much on it.

Article today saying he is defiantly going and also talking about how well he played scoring 2 tries and setting up a 3rd with what was described as " created a try with a superb assist" this in a week where the team didn't get paid due to more financial problems , while our current centre Ayshford sooks off because he is changing clubs next year. This is a good indication of the kind of effort we can expect from leulia and I'm looking forward to havi g him here
