Kicking Game Improvement

Parra had Sandow - he hit a magic 30-20\. But that was it.

We had a very effective kicking game and chase - Moltzen's try a beauty! Only Benji's Odd skewed kick the down side.

And how controlled was the field goal set up? Wow - under Sheens we would have panicked - Miller had so much time he could have made a toasted cheese sandwich!

Kicking game was vital to getting the result tonight. Good to see that it is being shared between Farah, Marshall and Miller and not left to just one player.

Each of our three playmakers put in good kicks tonight. Robbie was great again out of dummy half and is a specialist at getting the repeat set close to the line. Benji set up the Moltzen try. Miller had a kick midway through the first half that pinned Hayne down in the corner. Would like to see Miller have a few more kicks as the three players all have different strengths that complement each other

I'm glad Miller took some control and made some pretty good kicks. Robbie going to the air is a good sign too.

But Benj….ugh...what I can't stand is that stupid grubber to the right wing while he is running right...he did it on the 2nd tackle and thankfully it hit a parra players leg and we got 6 more. I think this has only worked ONCE since he started doing it last year. It's a pointless kick and rarely comes off.

..and then kicking out on the full? That's inexcusable, he had time and space as well.

Best kicking game of the night was Brooks in the 20s. 1 kick he shanked but other then that his kicking game was quality.
Not quite ready for 1sts yet - but impressive never the less

Yeah Softlaw - I read on the Tigers site that Brooks kicked a monster 40-20 tonight which led to a try. He seems to be going well and I guess we should wait till he's a bit older before promoting him to 1st grade. Sheens, to his credit always looked after Benji and didn't rush him - but remember Benji's shoulder injuries post 2005 - his young body copped a hiding 'cos the opposition targetted him.

Back to 2013 (sorry, remember that Benji has been around for nearly 10 Years!).

The problem is that we have Mulcahy playing well - he won the GF for the Toyota Comp last year - and then there's Brooks and Miller. The 3 of them don't fit into one position. Which worries me for the immediate future - I hope Brooks & Mulcahy are part of the future. Adam Reynolds at Souths was a Tigers junior (insert scream here). We can't afford to lose these young guys.

i'm not sure if potter has focused on this, but kicks inside the 20 aren't going dead as much.

i've always felt a kick that gets cleaned up 5 out is a great opportunity to punish the opposition with the ball.

Miller has a nice touch with his kicks - very clinical. While he's going well, let's just leave Brooks where he is to gain more experience and develop physically. If he's too good for U20's then the odd game in NSW Cup would be a sensible step up.

This and in the next couple of years I hope to see a miller/brooks halves combo with teddy at the back, sirro at lock and robbie at hooker.I would like to see benjis money pay for a trent merrin type player.Like the bulldogs model big rampaging forwards making average halves look like world beaters. But our young halves will become better than the bulldogs halves.

seriously? They grubber kick came off for our wingers countless times last year (watch highlights of Beau and Utai). I agree he does it too much - but it has had plenty of success for us.

Totally agree. Have brooks play reggies and play against adults. That is a step upo form the 20's. This will help his development. I'd have him in reggies for the remainder of the season, blooding him fro maybe next year, but it would help his game immensly. IMO
