I actually don't mind the bombs when we are around 40 out as we are contesting them. I hate them when we are in our own half. We have no long kicking game and it's our biggest weakness.

We got rid of Brooks that couldnt kick for shit and got Galvin that cant kick for shit.

Our bombs aren’t that bad this year but mostly because our players are contesting them. Luai needs to take over as the primary playmaker inside their 20 and just let Galvin play what’s in front of him.
Our bombs have been good because we have players chasing them. I too would like to see Galvin not being the main playmaker. Too often the ball dies with him or he wants to do it all himself. I used to think Douiehi was a hogg.

There’s obviously no thought about variation, the high kick has been an issue for the last 5 seasons yet there is never any variation. Kick to the grass can be equally effective with a good chase.
Just some variety needed.

The knights were astonishingly bad…
We really haven’t beat anything of note this year - it’s disappointing.
I think our meterage leads to us having to kick where a bomb is the only real option.
Our chase is marginally better at times - non existent at others…
Was hoping Luai would have something different in his kit bag kicking wise - if he does, haven’t seen it yet.
If anything, I think he’s a bit kick happy - would like to see him take them on a bit more

Should contest every bomb at full pelt. If you don't catch it at least you clean up the defensive catcher. They will start hearing footsteps coming soon enough.

They have contested some attacking kicks this year which is an improvement …

Yes, but Galvin is much younger and will be able to do it for much longer.

I don’t disagree regarding the meter age. I think Turuva and Skelton have already contested more bombs after 6 rounds than our wingers last season did all year.
I think Luai has more in his kit bag but he’s trying to involve Galvin in attack too much which is a detriment to his own game. Galvin is stifling the attack inside the 20 at times which is where Luai’s running game should excel and where he needs to take over more.

Maybe but Galvin wasn't getting them high enough. Ponga was out to the 30 before he was tackled. Luai has a big boot on him. Needs to use it more.
The opposition should be tackled on the 20m line.

It’s disappointing to be 3-3 at this time of the year after being 0-6 the last what 2-3 years? come on man you can only beat what’s in front of you… it’s taken us till mid year the last 3 years to get 3 wins on the board.
i walked out of the house 30 minutes into the game ,set after set newcastle made 80 mtrs we were lucky to make the 40line .God bless em we got the win.On our 3rd set if we kicked it on the 3rd or 4th i would have spat it n gone straight to the tab 100 on another spanking with a spoon,Were a lot more tenacious this year and willing to hang in
