Kids Footy

Our boys are doing it tough , after starting the season with 19 players and a star recruit from an opposing team things have gone pear shaped

With a combination of issues with parents/coach , kids leaving town with parents because of the work situation etc we are down to 14 players (with another leaving shortly , jobs are going left right and centre up here )

Two were away last week so we had the bare 12 and were in the game at HT at 4-0 down Our hooker got badly badly winded and we had to finish the game with 11 and got beaten 14-0

Boys are 1/5 for the season

Our boys got off to a great start .
Played round 1 last weekend
Lower Mountains defeated Glenmore Park
16-10
It was a cliffhanger of a game . We had 2 Trys disallowed from kicks as aparentley the ball went higher than it went further :unamused:
Hobbo Jnr scored the match winner with a Kamakazi crash ball over the line with 2 mins to go .
This weekend will be a grand final replay when the boys take on the Giant Polynesian pack from St Mary's .

Sheezus Happy - that doesn't sound too good. Sounds as though even with all things going against them the boys are still putting in. Hopefully the kids can get things back on track.

Nothing better than when your kid has a special play to seal a win. Nice work young Hobbo! Bring on St Marys!

Round 2 was last week …. The Grand Final replay against St -Mary's .
The boys were victorious winning 24-16

Round 3 was this morning , the boys played Windsor Wolves who had dropped down from division 1 into our comp .
They did well to hang in there but we're out classed 28-8 .
Hobbo Jnr was forced from the field with 2 mins to go after performing a charge down which went wrong .... ( impact was loud ) .
Although regaining Possesion he know has a busted top and bottom lip !

Gold Coast u/11'sRep Carnival Last Weekend
Congratulations to the Gold Coast under 11's on a hard fought win.
Thanks to some great attack and even better defence they managed to go through the weekend undefeated against teams from Ipswich, Toowoomba,Beenleigh,Redcliffe, and Pittsworth.
As the team was one the two smallest team in the carnival. They appeared to have little chance of making the final , let alone winning it, but as the weekend went on and the team knocked off every team in the preliminary rounds , they not only made it
To the final, but defeated Recliffe in the final.
I was amazed at the size of the Redcliffe, Ipswich, and Beenleigh teams . They sure grow them big in Qld.
However it didn't worry the Coast kids, and they defended really well in every game.
Their attack was good throughout the Carnival , but it was the defence that won the carnival for them.
They just cut down all the big boppers, who were used to running through the smaller teams. Then the faster kids laid on the points.
All the kids showed a lot of courage in getting in front and stopping the bigger kids
And there was a lot of proud parents by Monday afternoon,
And at least a couple of G/Grand Parents.
My g/son was so happy to make the team, as it was his first RL Rep team, as he was the youngest in the Carnival. (U10) so this post is possibly a bit biased.
Also the teachers that Coached and looked after the team, did a great job over the weekend.
And the kids would have had no trouble sleeping on Mon. Night. They were completely exhausted.

Nice work by the young fellas! Always amazes me when I see the size of some kids these days and I'm constantly blown away when I see the little blokes standing in front of them and having a real dig in defence. Kids that play up a year show a ton of courage. GCT junior should be as proud of himself as no doubt his g/dad is.

Beaten 24-8 yesterday , we had to borrow three kids from the age group below because 4 players were at the double header , EB got his first try of the season , Dad was at work and Mum at daughters confirmation

According to friends it was 14-8 and we were getting back into the game and a couple of cheap turnovers cost us

First of many hopefully mate. But there's always next week fellas!

We're heading off to Freo shortly. They've been the standouts this year. Unfortunately, our comp only has 4 teams now. A few of the other clubs have lost players and can't field teams. Seems we have a game, a bye, a rest, a friendly, a bye, a game…..Todays a friendly, but they'll go hard.

It's very frustrating that the NRL does nothing to grow the grass roots in the West. Everyone seems to think it'll (expansion) just eventually happen organically but all clubs are struggling for juniors and so the kids just congregate to a couple of clubs. Our team has 20 odd. Almost all of which are kiwis. Thank God for the Kiwis!

Boys lost 22-20 in a tight contest .
The refs are garbage at all levels , it was a frustrating game to watch .
Hobbo jnr was sent off for back chat late in the 2nd half

Pigs arse he gets it from me !…

Even his coach hi-fived him when he left the field

Ref was a joke

The lads went down to the roosters 26-16 yesterday. Good hard game with big hits, long range tries and a couple of scraps towards the end. After the game the boys formed a circle as one arm in arm and congratulated each other.

Well that was the old side kicking butts and taking names later

The boys came out , played with the some confidence , played like a team and just belted the Grand Finalist from last season 28-8

The youngster had probably his best game of the year , which is remarkable seeing he has just been diagnosed recently with Osgood's Schlatter disease

Scored one set two others up , but in sad news we will lose another player this week

Every week we have to borrow a couple of kids from the Under 11's and they are really stepping up as well

About 5 weeks to a big tournament the boys play in , 10 games in 2 days and have hopefully picked the right time to fire up

We made the semis last year and reckon we have the side to really make a mark again

Next week its the Premiers

On the way to netball today and passing the Wanneroo rugby fields, I noticed numerous spectators showing great concern. Looking across the field I saw a group of medics around a young lad who I guess would be around 11 or so. Ambulance doors open wide….wasn't overly pleasant - hopefully not too news worthy. There's been enough bad stories in sport of late.

Here's one for you , just heard about it this morning , saw the incident occur last week only heard the rest of the story this morning

Imagine this is your child …...........

We have a local secondary schoolboys comp for Year 7&8's all the way up to Opens for the local school plus a school that travels an hour and a quarter to each game

On the other field the Under 15 team that travels was playing one of the local sides and the away team play gets injured badly , turns out he broke his arm

Now get this , they get to the end of the game and team who travelled with 2 teachers hops back on the bus and leaves the player who has broken his arm behind with a Gladstone Junior League official to take him to the Gladstone Hospital ...............

But hang on it gets worse

The young kid wanted to speak to his Mum while he was waiting to get his X Ray and borrowed the GJRL official's phone to ring her

No one from the school , nor the teachers , nor his team mates had rung the parents to even tell her

They left this young bloke with a broken arm with someone they'd never met before to take a child to a hospital and then not bothered to tell the parents

Just so you know , the Dept of Education has been informed

What an absolute disgrace

Boys lost this morning 6-4 to St-Mary's in freezing wet & windy conditions .
Hobbo jnr's conversion from out wide hitting the upright …he's not a happy Chappy this arvo !!!

With no points being scored in the 2nd half .

The boys did well defending 5 consecutive sets in a row on their line in the 2nd half .

Tell him to keep his chin up Hobbo , they'll get them next week
