awesome! **he was supposed to harden up our D** and that really has not happened at all

being a hard player doesnt mean you know how to put in place good structures for our players and communicate it well to everyone.

i have a feeling someone else has been given a bit more power or influence the last few weeks. or maybe theyve been going kidwells way with someone else disagreeing and theyve finally decided to change it up and it's worked.

but obviously thats completellly made up

😱pen_mouth:

you havent noticed a change in our D? i have

maybe its a fluke and we get demolished the next few games or maybe theres a reason behind it.

im just making a little conspiracy theory. im sure the tele will pick up on it soon enough

Think you may have missed the joke.

hahahah yes i did, missed the bolded bit

Back peddling jumper grabbers, this is what the defensive coach has contributed in a win all game. Time for a few more to go besides him. Can't win first grade games with second grade players.

Glad they announced this today when there is nothing important happening, otherwise it might have affected team cohesion

I'd be interested in seeing which clubs have

A) Attack coach and defence coach
Or
B) Backs coach and forwards coach.

I hope.he doesn't uee tonight in his resume elsewhere

 His whole tenure with us has been crap. We haven't been a good defensive unit since Folkes left! Honestly, I think Kidwell should think about a career change - a decent player doesn't necessarily make a decent coach.

The most important decision in the clubs entire history coming up

Get it right

Indeed! Who would you like to see get the gig Ink?

I dunno.
I used to be very impressed with the Manly teams of several seasons back…. They could attack with their defence, it was very intimidating, they fed off each other... I loved it... And I'd love to see us defend with a ferocity that other teams feared

This decision can go a long way to changing the clubs culture.... Weve forever been known as a fancy pretty attacking team.... I want us to be known as a tough, feared ugly team whose game is based on a brick wall defence

Careful Ink,Steve will tear you to shreds with the old " attack wins you games",you must score more points, shame if you can't defend the lead when you do score points…..

Jt said it was easy to fix when he came in the club true tiger.

It's been a massive blot on his copy book for mine.

He talked a big game about defence coming in and 24 months down the track Im not seeing much improvement.

Assistants have bitten the dust last year and now this year as well.

Next year JT will have to deliver surely.

Just got home, switched on the TV and there was Naiqama falling off a tackle, allowing Isaah Yeo free passage to the try line. There weren't even numbers, in fact, we had the numbers! (3 to 1) It was one of the most pathetic attempts at a tackle I've seen at NRL level.

Whoever it is that is brought in by Taylor, we can be sure it will not be a big name. He refuses to have anyone there that may be a threat, so we can rule out anyone of note.

Should have happened before this, almost the worst defence in the comp. Move Taylor to Defence coach so he can put his money where his mouth is and bring in someone like Cleary as head coach.

I like your thinking but it is not going to happen.taylor will get one of his cronies to be defensive coach and the shambles will continue with a new person to take the blame

So Dave Kidwell moves on.

The question is who replaces him? Who is available? These decisions are as much about timing than anything else. Having someone you want available at the time the opportunity presents itself.

I would like to think the club has someone lined up already but you never know.

Eddie I agree that things have to change drastically in the defense department, and yes JT did say it would be easy to fix, either the players lack ticker or the defensive coaches that have been here have talked themselves up to get the job..

But the thing that gets me is,some games they defend like demons and do a good job, next time like last night the team goes missing, surely JT can't be blamed for the woeful display by these player's against Penrith,it was a defining game for them and they lacked interest, maybe the last couple of weeks took it out of them, there were to many SOFT trys scored against them…..

Do you really believe that?
Or do you think there may be another factor in it namely we seem to have only shopped at go-lo for coaching staff since the days of Sheens.
We should remember this will be a two way Street and whoever comes has to want to come… Being able to get the best, or being able to get whoever left?
It's funny when you think defense coaches.... I think back to kidwells playing days and he was a pretty fair defender. However individual technique and translating defensive technique to a squad aren't necessarily mutual things I guess.

Who is Melbourne's defense coach? Canberra's? Cronulla?
They're not high profile positions... But they're very important
