Kidwell to split from Tigers

Was Kidwell appointed in the first or second year of Potter's tenure? I thought JT was allowed to pick his own staff? If so why did JT persist with Kidwell?

Good big sides will always test our defence. We can defend teams like the Storm, but always struggle against the big sides who have the ability to offload. It has not changed in years, not sure how we can get better without going and buying some quality defenders. I fail to see how a new defensive coach is going to teach players how to defend and make good reads who have been struggling for a few years. Probably being a bit to negative, but our defence has struggled for years and we have had any number of new coaches in that time

This is why I would not be signing Brooks for anything over 500K.

Whilst he is flashy he is a poor defender and I don't see that changing.

We need to invest some money in our aggression and our defence.

Brooks is a better defender than Moses. Moses had some awful non efforts against the Raiders.

Moses has simply come on as a better player with the pill and his attitude is better.

when we bring our A game we can win against the 'benchmarks': Donkeys, Cowgirls, twice against Rodents, and even Mescaleros - Moses missed field goal.
On the other hand, if we play garbage we can lose even against the Drugcastle :frowning:

Mitch is a better 1 on 1 defender when he connects, issue is he is often out of position and had to cover more territory than what he should to manage attacking overlaps mixed with big men.

Kev needs to either go or stay on his line/man - when that happens Mitch normally looks like a million $$$ in defence and attack.

If you are going to rush up out of the line, you have to take someone, not stand there dithering, then don't take any one. It's a recipe for a disaster every time, and he does it too much.

I think you guys all need to look at the defensive position we find ourselves in when these named players are rushing out of the line.
I have not found evidence of any other team that seems to have isolated their five eight, centre and winger that close to the line.

Watch again these moments more closely and see for your self where the rest of the team is when this happens. Too often we have players stacked on the other side of the field or around the ruck.
Our defence as a whole is horrible, it has improved since the Potter days but has never been fixed.
Calling out individuals is not fair when you see how unorganised our middle men are around marker when on or close to the line.

We just need the Broncos defensive coach from last year or better yet Matt Elliot because he seems to always point out teams defensive positive or flaws in his NRL Breakdown episode.
He also has pointed out how the wrestle is effective in the ruck an area we completely submissive in.

That's where I would start.

Wests Tigers would like to congratulate David Kidwell on his appointment today as the New Zealand Kiwis Head Coach, effective immediately.

Kidwell has been an NRL Assistant Coach at Wests Tigers for the past three seasons, and was an Assistant Coach under Stephen Kearney for the New Zealand national side.

He will now join New Zealand on a full-time basis, and will take charge of the Kiwis for the upcoming Trans-Tasman Test against Australia in Perth ahead of the 2016 Four Nations tournament in England later this year.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe thanked Kidwell for his efforts while at the Club.

“On behalf of everyone at Wests Tigers, I’d like to thank David for his efforts at Wests Tigers and wish him well in this key role in international rugby league,” he said.

**Wests Tigers will confirm the make up of its 2017 coaching staff under Head Coach Jason Taylor in the coming weeks.**

I completely agree with you. I've said previously that it is a structural issue and it needs to be looked at. Against Canberra for instance it was obvious that Aloiai was completely out of position.

It's not a simple problem where you just blame Kev.

Moses rushes out a lot. Probably due to his size needs a bit of momentum to make an effective tackle. I'd like to what the exact problem is. Although I'm sure idris standing out there would change things.
