RIP Wests Tigers Super fan - Kingy

Absolutely devastated and shocked.

I met Scottie back in 2006, and he has been a great friend all these years.

I came to the forum tonight to make sure you all were aware of his passing (as I do still come here from time to time as a guest and had seen him mentioned from time to time, so I knew there would be others who would want to know).

Not surprised the sad news has already reached here as he was such a big part of the WT community.

Rest in peace my friend.
Sorry for your loss mate.

A message from the Travers Family

It is with shattered hearts that we share the news of the untimely passing of our beloved Scottie Travers, cherished son, brother, and uncle who passed away on Monday, 5 January. Scottie was a man full of knowledge, quick wit, and unmistakable charm. A passionate Wests Tigers supporter, he wore his colours proudly all year round, deeply loyal to his team even when they sat at the bottom of the ladder. He was also a familiar face on the Cairns trivia rounds, where his sharp mind and love of learning often saw him take home the win. His warmth, humour, and generous spirit touched everyone who knew him, and his absence leaves a space that can never be filled.

A service to honour Scottie’s life will be held at Simplicity Funerals Chapel, 411 Mulgrave Road, Westcourt, Cairns, QLD, on Wednesday, 14 January at 2pm.

For those wishing to offer their condolences, share a story, or simply reach out with kindness, please contact Sharon Travers on 0412 912 587.

Those wishing to pay their last respects to Scottie are kindly asked to confirm their attendance with Michelle on 0412 121 977.

Scottie carried a quiet genius, the kind that noticed what others missed and remembered what others forgot. He understood things differently, wonderfully and the world was richer because of it.

Forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.
Thanks for sharing. May he forever rest in love.

Vale to the King. I could be wrong, but around 99/2000 I am sure he appeared on Today Tonight/Current Affair about his fanaticism with the Tigers. Sitting in his home with Tigers Posters/Memorabilia everywhere. He is also interviewed here around the 3 minute mark:

Any old highlights in the 2000s, the camera would pan to him regularly. RIP , he will be missed.

Back in the Day (1999), I worked at Ryde TAFE which was the Official Training provider for the Sydney Olympics. I was fortunate to be involved as a Presenter for Olympic training, working with corporate sponsors and SOCOG staff. On one occasion in a session of around 200 people, I noticed a fellow in the crowd who looked familiar. As people were settling into their seats I motioned to him and asked "G'Day, King Tigerman, isn't it?" He looked at me and went "Shoosh! shoosh! I'm not in character!"

VALE Legend! You were always in Character! 🐯 🐯 🐯
