Knights Vs Dragons

Glad to see we're not the only ones prone to brain explosions with the ball in hand. Dragons knock on from the kick off, giving Newcastle a good set of six, ten metres out, only for Roberts to put up a 'hail Mary' kick to the corner on the first tackle! Coach's nightmare!

I think the drags had a few shockers as well Flippedy would have liked to listen to what the great coach Bennett had to say to his players after the game.

the Tigers could learn a thing or two from sides like the Knights and Sharks. While they don't have too many superstars they turn up every week and give 100%.You rarley see them get blown away. They alwayz have a go

Is it me or has footy become really boring to watch this year? i'm normally glued to the telly when any game is on even if i hate the teams playing but lately i couldn't give a rats, the kids could of come in and put the wiggles on this afternoon and i would of started singing hot potato with them. Am i weird or do you feel the same?

Once the comps heats up a bit i think you will be happier Week after the last bye squads will be back together after Origin and teams will be trying to set up for the run home . Might help if the Tigers will start showing who they really are . A couple of good wins and things can change quickly

The standard always strays a little during the rep season when teams are struggling for some continuity and consistency with their big guns out. In a fortnight the comp will really start to hot up again, heading into the finals.

LOL You may well be weird, Tiger, but I did feel a bit the same  I thought I was watching a game of soccer after the first half this arvo. Apologies to those who enjoy soccer, but teams going from one end of the field to the other, without scoring a point for eons, bores me to tears, somewhat. It's not the first time this year either, but as the other guys have said, things will probably hot up a bit once all the rep players are back on deck.

Your right Cunno, the Dragons did make quite a few blunders, too - no doubt missing Soward's direction.

As others have said in this thread, the standard does seem to drop around origin time which IMO shows something needs to be done about origin, while its a good series, its impact on the comp is noticeable and I don't enjoy byes either although I understand they are probably appreciated by the players particularly those with injuries. Don't know what the answer is with origin, I read plenty of suggested options including those on this forum but there isn't a straight forward answer otherwise I'm sure it would have been implemented. Today was one of the rare occasions I hoped the drags would win so the knights wouldn't jump us on the ladder, but they let me down :frowning:

I think the Dragons are starting to learn what it it was like for the raiders and broncos sides of the 90's who would have 5,6 or even 7 players having to back up during Origin . Won't be surprised if they get a few injuries post Origin . Not that will upset me . Not a Dragon lover myself

the last time we were "thrashed" would be the souths game last year - 50-10

i know we lost to st george and to manly by healthy amounts last year, and went down to the roosters this year 24-6 but I wouldn't consider those games thrashings.

Credit to our guys, they may not give the full 80 minutes, however they make other teams PLAY us for 80 minutes. (e.g - warriors game, panthers game - both teams fell asleep, and BAM we won)

Depends what you class as a thrashing Underdog Scoreline doesn't always portray the true indcations of the game . Reckon the recent Bulldog game was a thrashing of sorts

a thrashing doesn't neccessarily mean having 50 put on you, just means that they were never in the game and never looked like winning it.I can think of 4 of those kind of games this yr: second Rabbitohs game,Dogs last week, the Roosters and the Broncos

second rabbits game wasn't a thrashing - despite the half time score. we made them look positively amateur for 20 minutes of that game, (grantred we looked amateur for 60 of it) and almost stole it from under them - if it wasn't for Sandows cheeky short drop out, we had the game turned, and were charging home.

Broncos game? - I'll give you the benefit of the doubt there.

Dogs game we were never out of it, and it was a case of who could play worse, and Roosters game was won on the back of inhuman Defense by the roosters - and we squandered a few opportunisties - we didn't look out of our league, and the end scoreline flattered the roosters a whole lot.

The key is, we have not looked out of our league at all in any game we've played this year - even against heavyweights Melbourne and St George - we've just played awful footy at times.
