Kurtis Rowe [Discussion]

[system]

Is that based on his form or his ability?

Form

His kick returns have been Moltzenesque. Constantly gets caught out of position on kicks and surrenders at the line rather then trying to hit the hole.

Hope he kills it but doubt it

I'm surprised by the call but at least potter has the balls to make it.

Congrat,s to Potter, luv what he is doing and the direction he is taking our club.he should be getting more accolades than he's getting!

**Wow a fullback for a fullback.** Had a feeling this would be the go for Potter. I get the feeling he really rates Rowe (given his selection in the 9's).

Very deserving of a chance imo. Was a big part of the NYC success in the past couple of years.
Has alot of speed. I like the way he runs full throttle into the defense. Tough little player now gets his chance to prove his value on the big stage. Probably not much of a future at Wests but the rest of the NRL will see him. Good luck Kurtis.

How dare he… Sack Potter!

[Flippedy]

sort of surprised by this one.. **even everyone here had nofo and simona as their fullbacks but potter replaced fullback with another fullback whereas the fans didn't.**
things are changing big time here. EXCELLENT!

rip in kid! best of luck

Yeah we've all been conditioned to 'shuffle the deck chairs' for so long we couldn't see it any other way

Best wishes Kurtis, hope you have a great debut.

[macman]

2 great (courageous) selections
Rowe and Austin will go well
I am excited
Hope they go well all evidence says they will

[TurnStyle]

And while you're at it why don't you buy yourself a double barrell shotgun and aim it at your head and pull…....................

man, no need for that sort of crap - ever. idiot.

[BrissieTiger67]

pretty sure Sheens would have shifted Fulton to 5/8 and Lawrence to full back.

Hope Austin has a blinder! and Rowe takes every opportunity. Good Luck

My read on this is the club are aware of the extent of Tedescos injury so no use wasting time with a fill in. This is what reserve grade is all about there is a fullback waiting to step up whether he is a success is up to him …if not then another option will be sort.
This is a positive move by the Coach as the rest of the side is not affected other than 5/8',I always get a bit excited when a new face appears as watching if the player will take the opportunity handed to him and this week there are 2 ..good luck young fellas.

[strrretch]

looking forward to seeing him have his go
Given Teddy's frequent injuries plus contract speculation I have recently been wondering who is around to take his place…....have heard good reports re Rowe

Perhaps with the off season departure of certain assistant coaches Pottsy is a/ either allowed to call the shots or b/ the arrival of certain assistant coaches gives Pottsy a idea of what to do.

[Knuckles]

GOODLUCK to him ….I hope he goes well .... I'm sure the Cowboys will test him out.

[Sabre]

haven't seen much of him. anyone know how he has been going lately ?

The kid's making his debut.
How about showing some support?

[Eddie]

Well it only took 10 years. However a fullback for a fullback. A like for like change. Not 6 changes because of 1 injury. Who would have thought such logic would be applied at WT.

Give youth a chance, and not take wingers to fullbacks.

Bravo Potter!

He was asked his opinion; how would you suggest he have responded?

My problem with Rowe is that I inevitably compare him to Jake Mullaney given size yet that comparison doesnt favour Rowe.

Mullaney was a standout in the NYC and Rowe wasnt.

Mullaney was flawless under the highball, Rowe wasnt.

Now, Mullaney couldnt make first grade as his time at Parra ultimately proved. If Mullaney couldnt make it, then how can Rowe?

Hope Rowe proves me wrong and that his inferior NYC record doesnt mean he wont make a better fist of firsts than JM.

Haven't seen him many times lately as Wests Tigers don't get many NYC games on tv but as a schoolboy Rowe was all class. Selected as fullback for the Aussie schoolboy team and then the Junior Kiwi's last year. Has scored 38 tries in his 45 NYC games. He probably isn't quite ready for first grade but he was a highly rated junior who must have some skill to have done what he has so far.

With words would have been a good start. something more constructive maybe?

A quote that has served me well through life may well apply here…
"its not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog"

He may well have that big step up inside him, some people choke, others can chew and digest it. I cannot speak for the guys worth, but one thing is for sure, we owe him our support at the very least, at the very worst make our opinions of his capability at the level after 80 mins. If the guy can have a seamless game it will be unbelievable, so expect a bobble, a fumble at the very least, but lets hold the judge jury and execution until after the siren.

Not personal mate, just an apt post to quote.

[TurnStyle]

im sure every supporter wishes only the best for him. congratulations to kurtis, heres hoping he nails it!

[Irvine]

How does this guy get a call up to the NRL simply because he plays fullback in second grade. He has been very average in NSW cup.

Looks like Potter is taking another leaf out of Bennett's book and getting his own love child.
