OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released /Megathread*

Anyone hear Kent’s take on this? Scathing towards the club. Says we have been the worst run club for 15 years. All Galvin did was tell us he wouldn’t stay beyond 26, which has quickly turned us into needing to get rid of him ASAP. When players leave clubs like the Panthers, they get on with it, yet with us it turns into a circus.
Who cares. I think Kent should worry about avoiding getting his head kicked in again before making judgment calls on anyone.

I hate this narrative that all Galvin did was tell us he wouldn't stay it's a load of shit...

Penrith are a classic example:
  • in 2021 they were aware they were losing Burton - one of the hottest young properties in the league and Capewell - a very experienced and current Origin player. As well as others including Pangai Jr and Naden.
  • in 2022 they were aware they were losing Kikau - one of the most dangerous edge runners in the league and Koroisau - a very experienced and current Origin player. As well as others including Hopgood, Staines, jennings and O'sullivan.
  • in 2023 they were aware they were losing Crichton - the best centre in the league and Lenui - a very explosive benchie with SOO potential. As well as others including Hosking, Salmon and Cogger.
  • in 2024 they were aware they were losing Luai - a local mainstay, SOO rep and one of the best no.6s in the world and Fisher-Harris - a tough as nails prop and current captain of NZ. As well as others including Turuva and Iongi.
Did they [This word has been automatically removed] and whine and start crap on social media and become the number one news article about player riffs and let these players leave early etc...
Nope.
They won the GF each year and then got on the piss for a week as they said their goodbyes.
Kenty is a bit of a dipshit, but he is right on this one
Theyre not comparable...not even close

That's rich.

If we look at the chain of events:

- The tigers released the statement he wouldnt be here.
- Galvin to play NSW cup for a week.
- Stupid post by Turuva (I dont include Luai in this, whether ppl agree or not, he didnt name or call out galvin directly).

Everything else that has played out has been the media and Galvins manager.
- Bullying
- False reports of Tigers players complaining to RLPA

There are reports:
- Galvin was a jerk in the way he approach the playing group (creating a rift within the playing group)
- Galvin told a souths player he was off to the dogs (whilst still wearing a tigers jersey).

Tigers have been the worst run club for the last 15 years, as much as we want to defend it, that part is true.

But I think that the tigers handled this well and Richo shouldnt be tarnished with the same brush as the previous administrations.

I don't get why everyone is so worked up about Gus.

Sure he lied in the media and so what? If it was just about saying whatever you want in the media, the Dogs would have Haas, Cleary, Grant etc.

End of the day we created an environment Galvin was uncomfortable in and he's chosen to go to a team that he thinks he will do his best in. Doesn't really have much do with Gus' antics in the media. If Galvin wanted to stay, he would've.

I see the issue with Gus as separate from the situation with us losing Galvin.

There’s no doubt that most CEOs and GMs bend the truth to suit their own agenda - that’s just the nature of a cutthroat industry. I don’t have a problem with that in principle. The real concern is that Channel 9 pays him a significant amount to appear as a panelist on their show. If he continues to spread misinformation, it undermines the credibility of the program. Viewers will stop tuning in if they believe the information being shared isn’t accurate.

As for the Galvin situation - while the current environment might have played a part, let’s not forget that Galvin had been seeking a release well before he even debuted. So it’s not just about what’s happening now. Anyone with half a clue could see there had been conversations or approaches going on behind the club’s back long before things blew up. I get that plenty of clubs do it - but we’re talking about a potential superstar who still had two years left on his contract. It’s pretty clear he was being courted by both Parra and the Dogs well before we even put an offer forward.

Gus says he never spoke directly to Galvin, but I’ve got no doubt he’s been in discussions with his manager or family for quite some time. Here in lies the issue with what Gus has been doing/saying and the NRL allow it to happen.

You have ZERO idea on what has happened behind the scenes in this club to make ANY comparisons ;
Just on the information that we do know about , and you can argue S many have we should never have caved to Galvin to begin with , but I’ll run you through the things we/I do know ;
1. Galvin and his camp requested a release on the back of the tigers signing Latu Fainu , and at that time the stories that we were chasing Luai.
2. A second release request , around first grade time , and the now announced signing of The NSW number 6 .
3. The coach decides after really poor results to start the the 24 season that’s he’s going to go full youth movement . Starts sounding ideas off the kids , really pissing off Bateman , Sezer and Klemmer .
4. Bateman has the worst game he’s ever played whilst captain of the club. Gets a spray from benji for it , and in the heat of the moment reveals that the older players are sick of the entitlement of the kids ( Galvin 💯, my guess probably TDS as well ).
5. that relationship is irreparable , Bateman is let go . The rest of the team start to see this kid with a smile on his face is a bit of a dickhead .
6. Luai starts with the club , standards are lifted , he takes a real shining to Latu Fainu , they connect , and look connected when training together . It’s pretty obvious . The team looks really connected .
7. Lachlan is starting to get distant with the team , it looks to all coincide with the timing around Benji now constantly in private conversations with luai all the time , and the whisper that luai prefers Latu .
8. Luai and Galvin start having a few disagreements around the team and standards . It’s obvious they don’t like each other .
9. It all erupts . It turns out Galvin has been making a list of all the negative interactions he’s had , and doesn’t want to resign / also the players have word that he’s been negotiating with other clubs . ( because everyone knew around February . So if Joe blogs off the street knew , the players definitely knew) .
10. Galvin starts playing hero ball instead of being where he’s supposed to in multiple games . Finally the club decides to piss him off .

That’s the timeline of what happened .
You’re on drugs if you think that a player has ever even thought about 80% of that , at the panthers . They all STFU and do what they’re told , until they get a seat / earn a seat at the table . Not the Galvins .

I think I heard on a podcast today , that he had a sook to the undefeated Harold Matt’s coach that he should be playing fullback instead of Lualiii , who had been braining it all season .
That’s the kid we are talking about .! Just a simply bad attitude .
This where the club has to be better . Knowing the difference between confidence - and arrogance . Between saying all the right things and doing all the right things .
The kid is Bo Callahan from Draft Day . We just didn’t have a Kevin Costner to spot it …. Talented , but a complete oxygen thief .
The panthers club spots these guys way earlier than that . It’s why they pissed off Matt Lodge. They May boys were given a long leash because of thier talent , eventually they were too much to handle , and so on .
We obviously didn’t put enough effort into the person , or didn’t want to see it .
And that’s why this is playing out in the news .

3 clubs really as Eels would have been pissed he rejected them for Dogs as well. Hope this happens as Karma will come
If this talk is true and he's already on the nose at the dogs and has to switch to Parra, awkward.
The Galvin truth has hit the fan karma for that turd, Gus's decisions make him look like an idiot, daddy with his impatience gets the shits with Moses and wants him gone fantastic.

All speculation and some fantasy but as Tigers supporters we are allowed to dream.

My mate is friends with one of the dad's at Canterbury and he loves to talk
That's why I was surprised he decided the Dogs over Eels as he would have fit in better there. Laui's Mates would have asked what happened and if Galvin's camp think they wouldn't have said anything they have lost their minds.

I am loving this though as they picked Dogs for easy success without doing the hard yards and it will come back to hurt them.

Who cares. I think Kent should worry about avoiding getting his head kicked in again before making judgment calls on anyone.
lol that POS made a career from bagging the tigers . He’s one of the main reasons the tigers got such a poor reputation in the media to begin with . Even minor issues he’d blow up to be 💯 to suit his sensationalist agenda . He’s trying to make sound bites so he can get some kind of position in the zeitgeist to promote his podcast . The same shit he did with nrl360

did any of the players you speak of turn up with a dossier of grievances regarding the head coach that had given them the opportunity to play first grade and develop?

If it is true , ( not calling you a liar @Odessa, just playing devils advocate) , it really either says 2 things .
The dogs knew this team wasn’t it , so they think they can go through some short term loss long term gain to improve the spine … or…
They’ve really miscalculated the precarious ecosystem that a footy team locker room can be … I dunno

But but but …… if I go on a tigers forum as a cowboys supporter…. How can I position myself as the voice of reason , if I start to include all the variables ?
It will just weaken my position with the 3 people who don’t find my posts to be like chlorine to the eyes…
