OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

I still don't see how his style of play fits with the dogs - he wants his hands on the ball every set and drifts across field either looking for a hole or a runner. The dogs have been playing direct and then getting quick ball out wide to their centres and SR. To me his style is the total opposite to what the dogs are doing.
Not our problem now

Just read the Inside Story: How Phil Gould hoodwinked Parramatta Eels to sign Lachlan Galvin in that esteemed journalistic organ, The Daily Telegraph.

All I can say is that there isn't an ounce of integrity amongst all the parties involved.

I am now just waiting for my schadenfreude to kick in, which I suspect will be sooner rather than later.

That will be delicious.
I suppose the dogs are at the top of the table and will have no effect on our ladder position
Parra I hope get the spoon
But really would love another team to sneak in and gazump them both

It's only the one player we are talking about.

Beats me why you are so apologetic of Galvin and this situation.

I'll repeat, I don't think you are who you say you are, more and agent for the Galvin camp.

Either way give it a rest, No one really cares anymore, he is gone and he joins a short list of players to dog the club. He is yesterday's news and the club is bigger than him.
Im not appologetic.
My focus is on the Club and how they can prevent further incidences.
Simple as that.
You dont get to shut me down because you dont like what Im saying. I am in discussions with 4 or 5 seperate members. This is a forum. Thats what it is for. If you dont want to read this stuff anymore, then dont click on this thread.
Theres plenty to discuss in the Signings thread if this one upsets you so much....

The difference is there are dirty cards that can be played in the public realm.
This was kept in house for 4 days and no one was any the wiser bar speculation until Richo released that statement. There was a lot of emotion in it but not a lot of detail. This fired up the journos and they circled in tighter than a fish's bum. Very soon we knew the size of the contract and we knew about the reasons he wanted to leave.
The leaking of this information helped create a sympathetic view on the Tigers. I dont believe that releasing that information was in Galvin's best interests as it makes him look greedy, entitled etc... and as they hadnt said a word in 4 days and apparently didnt even look at the contract, it stands to reason that this info was leaked by the club. Weve since heard a lot of journos admit it came from the club.
I dont know for sure what happened there, but its highly likely the club instigated this by going public and straight away, there was backlash.
Social media went into meltdown, players were reacting publicly all talking heads were giving their two cents. Galvin was demoted and it was largely reported that the players forced Benji to do this.
Team Galvin had to release a press statement to temper the reaction - this is another reason I dont believe they were behind the initial leaking.
Enter Mr Gould raising concerns for Lachies welfare. He raised these concerns on tele and a podcast. Channel 9 personalities then started supporting the kid. This was met by a staged press conference from the club where Benji did really well but it didnt quieten things down enough and the loss that weekend was amplified by word the club received a legal letter from Camp Galvin.
Then other players were brought into it to create a narrative of bullying and players being treated poorly. The club decided another interview would quell things so Richo went on the Graham podcast and sold the situation as being overblown. One month later and we find out it wasnt overblown at all and the kid would be released immediately if certain conditions were met by the recruiting club. As of today, this is yet to occurr.

Mate Ive been in contract negotiations far bigger than this. This ^ is not how its done.
Not a single verifiable fact in there what's so ever. It's 100% conjecture and speculation.

Again it all woe is me, the clubs always been a basket case and always will be. It's a really pathetic narrative to push.

The club dose not bare all the responsibility in this one. Yes it handled aspects of it poorly. Yes there are learnings, yes we can be better.

Galvin had a massive part in what happened with the support of his family and on the advice of his manager, he doesn't get a free pass full stop.

The Bulldogs shouldn't get a free pass full stop, they blatantly broke anti tampering rules on national TV. But the NRL won't do shit.

Also not denying Galvin will in all likelihood make a solid first grader but if he is a generational talent. How come only two teams bid for him..... What were the other 14 doing ????

I’m sure they will train him into their style of play and he will listen to a coach he respects.

We can all hope he crashes and burns, but the reality is, he does have talent and will most likely go well playing in a well structured team. He performed pretty well even when we played like a decent team in the few good games we played this year. It stands to reason he will play even better in a more consistently better performing team.

Hoping I’m wrong and he turns out to be a dud in his new colours lol, but something tells me that won’t happen. These player defections rarely end up good for us, even Brooks looked good playing in a better Manly side last year and the Bulldogs have more upside than Manly.

No doubt he's manipulating as much as he can. This is the first time it's came off against WT.

Example 1 - when the Fainu's were being released from Manly, Gus decided to visit Manese in prison and "check on his welfare". We already had Sione so he lost out there.

Example 2 - when Stefano was potentially leaving he was quoted saying WT should be careful how much the offer him - much the same as what said about Galvin. Gus couldn't compete with Bellamy so lost out again.

The point being good guys finish last. I'm tired of seeing my club get manipulated. We need to get better at winning these situations.

The biggest was getting Ciraldo, no doubt other factors were in play, but Gus had a major influence

The kid has had leave requests denied a few times now stretching back to 2023. There has been ample opportunity to work this out. Richo even had a sitdown with his parents.
For him to spend weeks putting together that contrat package as claimed, he must have thought he was a great chance of landing the signature.
I agree the dossier was a [This word has been automatically removed] move. That doesnt make what Im saying any less correct though.
Yes...but as you pointed out, Richo sat down with his parents and they came out of that saying it was all hunky dory and they resolved some issues around giving him a chance to rest his hand or something.

After that, nothing was said at all. The new issues came up just this off season and the new year when the dossier was created.

They never approached the club after the first set of issues was resolved.

The whole thing is a smoke screen. You are correct in saying he has asked for releases previously, but it seems when we resolve his issues, another one pops up. Just this time, he kept it to himself and his journal. This was the plan all along. Totally calculated. We never stood a chance.

I dont buy that zero impact
Everyone heard it.
Galvin would have to and for.him.to hear hiself talked up as the next immortal would be music to his ego.
It wouldnt be the sole reason but im sure it didnt dissuade him
You don't think he would've heard all that stuff from others already. All the journalists & ex-players pissing in his pockets. They're all aligned with clubs, yet only Gould's words have impact? I'm fairly certain Gould would've communicated his thoughts on Galvin face to face or through intermediaries. I really don't think Galvin needed to tune into Friday Night Footy to learn Gus was interested.

Genuine question, how could the club have done anything different given the stakeholders involved?

I mean apart from turuva and his post (that was private)... Benji and Richo came out supporting lachaln.

So I just cant grasp what we were meant to differently

We need to remember that there were lies printed in the newspapers about "bullying" at the tigers and the RLPA involvement that ended up being false..

So we aren't dealing with upstanding citizens here. Our hands were bound to get a little dirty in the process.
The other question is what more could we have done for him. Prior to any of the situation unfolding, we gave him a start, brought players in for him, reason I write for him is because Benji openly stated he was the future of the club. Benji gave him free reign to play what he saw. We offered him a massive deal, what more could we have done to accommodate him? In the end in all honesty it was never going to be enough, he always had one eye elsewhere.

So your saying the whole thing was instigated by the player - not by the manager. My point exactly 👍

None of us know the whole truth, and perhaps Moses discussed ideas & options with Galvin & his parents. But at the end of the day, Galvin employs Moses, not the other way around. The name Lachlan Galvin is signed on the contract.

Gould stated at the time he thought our development was ahead of Canterbury's
As for your narrative that Benji was brave, it was pure jobs for the boys BS.
Put it this way, if at work your CEO announced that the new state General Manager was going to be an internal promotion of someone with zero management experience who has done no corporate training whatsoever, and is someone he drinks with, would you be as impressed?
Gould also said Barrett would always have a job as long as he's at the Dogs, he also said they have they're own development programme and arnt interested in signing Galvin. The appointment of Sheens was a massive mistake by the previous admin, he was well past it, he should have stayed as the g.m and never put his hand up. In saying that I have more respect for Benji than I have Ciraldo, Benji had a go, boys job or not it's the toughest coaching gig in the game. Whether he's actually successful of not only time will tell. Ciraldo on the other hand imo took the easy road.

Kul, the forum owner has set that word to be replaced with a new phrase automatically. He did it some time ago and hasn't changed it despite objections.

Watch - Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon

(I wrote T-rump without the dash and the above replaced it)
Yeh, OK, but if he can do it automatically with this word, he can do it to any word or phrase if he feels like it, just because he's the boss as I said to Spartan in an earlier DELETED post.
If the Mod's don't think this is right, I'd like a guarantee from them that it will never happen again [apart from any reference to T-rump which he is obviously going to keep doing].

No, Im using experience to point out that things werent done correctly
Its not a personal attack, its an opinion on gaps in their procedures.
It is more for people like you who have zero idea how a negotiation is supposed to be held.
Im providing a counter argument to your claim that Moses leaked everything to the media and Galvin shit all over the club
Your extreme opposition to this narrative shows you dont understand what Im saying.

The livelyhood of my family is dependant on me successfully negotiating contracts.

Ill call my boss and let him know that tucker on the tigers forum says I have no idea how to do my job.

If you were any good at your job, you'd understand the concept of qualifying out.. When something is dead, you stop investing your time in it.

Richo deemed the Galvin opportunity to be dead and closed it out. I agree this was the correct decision that saved the tigers a world of pain in the long term, more so, later in this season.

Appreciate the unsolicited training and development opportunity, but it's a hard pass to any future tucker university courses.

I think it was over the moment tim sheens left to be honest.
