If promises where not made by previous management then made be TDS would have stayed and not on the reputed money some believe he wanted or was offered.

Team Galvin was always going to leave and his rise in the rep ranks is solo based on the help he is receiving.

He has the skill to be a ball playing lock once he fills out a bit - the only problem will be him accepting he is not going to touch the ball 5 out of every 6 tackles. Whether that will nullify or enhance his effectiveness - who knows.

How is it a valid point of discussion when you are so strongly on one side yet admit you have no clue why the decision to let TDS go was made? It only makes sense in your head to argue a point you yourself admit is clueless lol

I’m actually pretty livid reading that. Yeah TDS played more games but he got less starts than Tristian effing Hope and averaged less minutes per game. For transparency, two of Hopes starts did come after TDS left.

It’s one thing to be on the bench behind Api but when a mediocre player like Hope is given the starting job more times in 5 games than TDS was in 11, that’s piss poor coaching and development. Anytime API was injured/suspended/Origin/needed a breather, TDS should have been automatically selected but instead he was sharing the hooking role with Hope (and Latu occasionally)

No wonder he left, Benji is a moron who seems to love playing reserve graders over talented juniors.

Good to see the stats. However if as you say two of Hope’s starts were after TDS left, that means he only had 3 matches and 1 start while TDS was here. A lot less overall appearances than TDS who had 11.

And Hope’s starts after TDS left I assume were only because Api was out, which probably also accounts for the higher average minutes per game.

The thing I was most annoyed with was not keeping TDS for the 2026 season when he was under contract. Would have useful for this year

Benji also moved TDS to the bench in R1 for Hope after naming TDS to start, which made no sense. But there’s more to it than even just those stats.

There were also multiple games where TDS wasn’t even named as a reserve while guys like Mason and Hope were being named. There were also games where Brent Naden was named on the bench as the 14 while TDS was put into NSW Cup.

I was only commenting on the Hope vs TDS comparison which was 3 games vs 11. For Round 1, I didn’t mind having TDS off the bench for greater impact.

Fully agree with you that I would have preferred TDS over Naden/Mason. In 2025 we looked better with the Api/TDS combo. Api more effective with a break

I think TDS's improvement is directly related to his toughening up to NRL level of strength and fitness.
And WT can't be dictated to on contract price, and I want the run on position now.
So, he left. A good call by him in hindsight.
However, WT had to make a stand. A hard call and they stuck with Api, who did a tremendous job 2026, We now have a back-up for hooker, presumably to shorten his on-field minutes.
Terryl May also needs better field time management, so I hope they are sorting that out in the off season as well? It's badly needed to get the best out of May.
Hayward is yet to toughen up to NRL level. So, until then, we wait to compare apples with apples.
Hayward now has 2027 to build up to those levels needed and be coached to improve his game.

Not sure they are off yet?
His 2027 selections----particularly the bench and bench management will be interesting to say the least.

People have been upset that Latu has been on the NRL bench with limited minutes, when he could have been getting reps up in cup.

Its no different with TDS.

I dont think what you guys are debating was the actual issue here.

People were getting upset that Latu was getting limited minutes (and sometimes none) off the bench in positions he's never played before while a career backup (Madden) was getting picked ahead of him. If Latu was coming off the bench into the halves, like he did in our last game, there's no issue. But that was clearly not the case and Benji did nothing to help his development by picking him at lock and hooker.

TDS was competing for minutes and a spot on the bench with dogshit like Hope and Mason (and even Brent Naden) despite being clearly better than all of them. Not to mention the early success of the Api/TDS combo earlier in the season which Benji inexplicably went away from.

The point is that Benji and his staff don't have a clue how to develop and use talent which has led to some of them leaving. No competent first grade coach would pick the likes of Tristan Hope, Heath Mason, Brent Naden and Jock Madden over TDS and Latu Fainu.

The handling of Latu has been nothing short of a disgrace. And if he were to leave, it would not surprise me in the least.
