OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

I'm also waiting to see how he goes as a non-dominant 6 with Luai running the show. The best thing about Galvin is how fit and busy he is, he might not be able to take advantage of that as much with Luai taking control.

He's still going to be a star no matter what happens and we should be trying everything to keep him, but this year will tell us a lot more about his future value.

All of this makes it even more ridiculous that we didn’t let Large have the Galvin clause in his contract.

It was a lose/lose situation, but the smarter decision would’ve been to give it to him.

Richardson botched that one.

I will be honest, i would of had of given it.
Reason is i dont believe he will re sign.
He asked to leave 4 times last year and only stopped when told no you have a 3 year contract.

Not only did he seek a release last year (More than once apparently), there was also the rumour he had a tantrum in the dressing room after the game in the Gong and was “rested” the week after (No one has ever considered that he was dropped on the down low for disciplinary reasons). Combine that with him turning down free money this year, it doesn’t bode well. How many players choose to stay on minimum wage when there is a significant upgrade on offer. I realise this is negative, and I know some don’t like it and prefer to live in a bubble, but just because it’s negative doesn’t mean it’s not reality.

Challenge for most of us fans is not understanding he is still a kid growing up.

Most kids couldn’t give a stuff about what is happening in 2yrs time let alone 6-12mths time.
Kids today & their approach to things are very different to kids 10-20yrs ago.

My take is it’s not Galvin directly controlling things & alot are viewing it’s him.

It wouldn’t surprise me if he genuinely doesn’t care about what happens in 2yrs time or the cash.

He appears to be a real chilled relax take it as it comes and lives a basic lifestyle type kid. He has made a point about that. One that lives and breathes the game, who also has zero doubt about his ability.

The kid has already walked into a paycheck bigger than any of his mates have and knows he will be getting a bigger one next. He probably doesn’t care about the money at the moment because he doesn’t need it which is typical kid mentality.

My mail from people close to the club is that benji is a “sh’t coach” and that people are in galvins ear that “you don’t know how bad it is at the tigers until you go to another club”.
Time to spill the beans - what is the detail behind Benii being a shit coach. The first cracks starting to appear?

Well I'm pretty sure that if Benji is as shitty a coach as some seem to think, it won't be missed by Richo and he'll have some sort of a plan moving forward.
I agree - just interested to hear what "insiders" are saying because up until now it has been a deafening silence. Plenty saying he can't coach but not much evidence to back it up. Too ealry to judge for me - there appears to be moments when we are doing the right thing - but we fail to put it together for 80 minutes. Coach or roster or a bit o both? 2025 he is under the microscope.

He'd be under a lot of pressure for this team to improve out of sight this season.

Yes we have some glaring short comings still but if we are not competitive in each and every game and discipline has not been instilled in the playing group, then Benji can't just accept responsibility for it without there being some sort of consequence.

It's all subjective & opinion hey @Jolls . We all know someone close to the club could be someone Benji or the club has let go in the past 12 months & players at other clubs could be a player with an axe to grind for being let go. It's good to get 'insider' info but always taken with a grain of salt.

Look I don't claim to be an insider or anything but I'll be honest & say I've heard the same things about Benji as a coach but it's coming from a lot of the senior players (the senior players who Benji regularly challenged to prove their worth last year.)

Fair enough. As someone mentioned recently, some senior players may feel uncomfortable being held to account by a young coach they played with/against recently. But if those senior players have loose lips to say this, tells me they are dropping down the pecking order & may not be who we need moving forward.

If benji can’t coach galvin is gone

We’d have to be winning at least first 5 out of 10 games to even have a shot at getting him to extend before November 1.

My mail from people close to the club is that benji is a “sh’t coach” and that people are in galvins ear that “you don’t know how bad it is at the tigers until you go to another club”.

But let’s see.

Fingers crossed.

To be fair if Richo and Luai can’t get him to stay - only a great coach like Wayne or Robbo or Cleary or Bellamy could.
Even if Benji is a good coach, I just don't know how you get the whole club to buy in to him without any runs on the board as a coach, or for that matter even as a captain.

It's easy to say that he is in-charge and everyone should push towards the same goal with him as a leader, but that is hard to do under adversity under a leader that hasn't shown that he can be trusted yet.

You mean the ones that are gone than good none of them came up to the level we needed.

Galvin getting a lot of hype, personally I'm happy for all parties just to see how the next few months go. Not going to bag a kid who is talented and really has a crack, but there is a lot that needs to keep developing for him to be considered elite. So far so good.

The real factor that decides where we are at a club is going to be the coach and what Richo does if we have an early losing streak. If this is mismanaged then Galvin won't be the only one looking at the exit. Easiest solution is we start winning.
