OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

That could be the elephant in the room.
A few have left under contract and are all greedy. But maybe there is a reason.
I have doubts and only watch the games
We were getting lapped under Madge, and he's doing okay now. That suggests it's the players, not the coach.

The real test will be teams chucking a million at him for 2027 when he will be getting paid maybe 400k or so for 2 years.

If he chucks a Ryan Matterson or Mitch Moses, the NRL needs to take the strictest of actions. I don't know what they can do, but I can't fathom tanking or wanting "out" of the contract for more money.
A player taking up a chunk of cap who tanks is a problem for the club and generally best to be rid of. A player on only average $, where we have decent backup, who tanks is an opportunity to be made an example of. KOE, RMC. He’s good backup up for minimal investment so keep him for 2026. Unless a club that signs him has a trade too good to refuse.

I guess if people are planning to boo the young fella for taking more money elsewhere, they will also be booing the blokes who joined our club for more money too?
Who said he's going to get more money? If he gets demoted and deprioritised, he won't even be worth that much.

And like every other player, he's always potentially only one game away from a terrible injury and retirement.

if he doesn't he is going to be forced to play a much more structured game which takes away from his strengths.

he wouldn't go to the storm and get away with some of the sh1t he does with us. but it also takes away his flair and decreases his value.

the more this plays out if someone wants to pay him $1.5 million or more so be it, he isn't worth that much. We can thank the knights and dylan brown for this lol
Yep. I was thinking that if he joined Parra and put on those dumb hero plays, Moses would give him grief. If he plays with Sam Walker, it will be chaos (but fun to watch). Storm would only have him as a backup for Munster.

Benji gave him the freedom that let him to improve, figuring it was an investment. Now he can't be forgiven for dumb plays. He has to win games for us like a million dollar half is supposed to do, not just show potential with rocks and diamonds performances.

To be fair did Galvin earn his way in?
He was only called up because Latu was injured.

I forget who the storm winger was, it was on one of the shows the other week and apparently he was the worst trainer and didn't show much in reserve grade. But they were riddled with injuries and desperate, so they called him up to play first grade expecting the worst. He got his crack in First Grade and became one of their best wingers. The name completely escapes me, might have been a Fijian winger?

Every game Latu has played first grade he has been solid.

I recall the game at LO against manly and his first touch of the ball scored a try... again got injured that game...

But in the opportunity he has had, he's been great.

What else do you want from him?

Galvin coming from SG ball surely isn't "earning it" is it?
Latu has been far superior in my opinion, albeit with a much smaller sample size.

Is Latu a 7? Or could he be?

If so, seems the Tigers may have just gotten the opening to have one of the game's best 5/8ths in recent years play at 5/8th.....

Not exactly what he signed up for, but would changing the number on his back rock the boat with Luai in future?

Just seems that they may not necessarily need to be thinking about their next 6, but about either one of their next 6 or 7.

Anybody got this one

Buzz: Cracks in Galvin-Tigers relationship a year in the making

Deep inside the Wests Tigers’ dressing sheds in Wollongong in June last year after a 56-14 loss to the Dragons, Lachlan Galvin made a telling admission which was reported in Phil Rothfield’s column. SUBSCRIBE to read the full story.

No that's not what I said at all.

I said that if we want to keep him we need to be the best spot for his development. That window has now passed; he has been given offered the mentoring and the contract $ and he wasn't happy with the offer. He is still worth developing as we have him for another 18 months; but, once Latu is fit he should be developed as the 5/8th and Galvin moved to where best to meet the clubs needs. Be that a different postion or in Reggies.

I think that he will probably remain in the top 17 but not being developed as our 5/8th as that would be wasting time and effort.
Do you think we are ‘developing’ lachie as a 5/8?
I think the only ‘development’ he has been offered is to get used to defending on the right side of the field.
But I don’t see any of our play or play structures be a result of Lachie developing into a better half. I honestly think we have 12 out of 13 players in set positions and one player that just plays football when he sees fit. It’s a very in the now approach. Lachie is our X-factor and is playing as such but it is also has the ability to be detrimental to our team development long term.
