OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277

I have always thought this was the outcome.
Otherwise, he would have taken the extension and be playing for way more money this year and next. If that's the case why continue to develop him when we have other options who are committed. Latu is out injured unfortunately but I would move AD into the halves with Laui in the meantime.
That will also free up like 1 million dollars for extension for AD and quality centre
no thank you to AD in the halves
I agree galvin is gone

I would give his manager a deadline to extend and if he doesn't he plays KOE and Latu goes straight into the halves.
No problem with that, more chance of Luai becoming more dominant, but before we did that I'd like to see Latu put together a few 80 minute injury free stints to show that Latu has some durability.

I have no doubt that he has the talent, durability, not so sure.

Agree, put the offer on the table, 4 weeks tops. If he wants to stay he won't need any time.
I agree with not waiting. Let's face it, given the track record of his agent there's only a very slim chance that Galvin will stay and as it gets closer to November his form will drop off. Assess his desire to stay and if so, make him a decent offer that is affordable, then give him until round 12 to decide.
Of course, this approach does give his agent an advantage because he can tell prospective suiters how high they need to go. But there's no better advantage than being able to plan for the future.

Richo knows what he is doing.

I wouldn't fart arse around with them, if he doesn't want to commit Latu needs to be in the halves. If you allow Moses to dictate terms it will end very badly see Teddy, Moses etc.
Yeah fair enough, but you’re two examples were set the same negotiating tactic and we lost, and you are using that as an example of why we should do it again.
And another hole in your negotiating is Latu Fainu can’t stay in the park?

Ivan wasn’t happy to see him go. He said himself in the media he wanted him. Your entitled to hate on Romey thats your right but don’t make up lies. Ivan not only wanted him but relied on him.
Man he can say whatever he wants . Ivan and rugbygoated can have a soggy sayo party about how amazing they are , backslapping and all .
It doesn’t change the fact that since luai and JFH have left , that team is 1-5. Will it stay like that ? Probably not … but it’s not a zero percent chance that it does. And if it does , coach Ivan will be looking for a job come this time next year.
Such is the disloyal, fickle nature of the people who run that club .
Remember , he was only asked back because the club was resigned to the fact Cleary junior was coming here to tigers . It was a Hail Mary play… that worked.
I get it from Ivan’s perspective now . I didn’t at the time . He built the squad that was going meh under Griffin . And I’m sure it was about finishing what he started as much as coaching his boy .
But yea , the fact that the management made a cold calculated decision to chase the guy they screwed over 2 years earlier , just removes any form of hubris , ego or whatever . I mean the audacity of it and coldness from a business perspective was pretty impressive to be honest . But that coldness will also be the reason if he doesn’t win, and they think he should be winning , he won’t be there .
Definitely a “what have you done for me lately” situation.

Sullivan does not want to come back and has asked about getting out of the contract. Soths suit him down to the ground.

We should not have gone in for him he was a bad buy for us especially in the system currently favored by Benji.
At the time we bought Bud, we had no halves for 2024, no Luai, Galvin was a virtual unheard of schoolboy and Latu was a 17 year old kid from Manly.

It wasn't a bad buy at the time at all.

I don’t think anyone knows what’s happening. I do know Kent doesn’t have a job with the major sports news businesses and needs the podcast to rate highly with he is to have a voice in NRL media. He’ll say what ever is going to get the engagement going
Exactly if the media is the snake, PK is the belly, he would say anything to get back into the spotlight again, you can't trust anything said by employed media so why would you listen to him.
I'm not going to stress over Galvan what will be will be, agree put the contract in front of him and if he ums and ahs take it off the table with a big F you, he's not the messiah we have another option.

Put the offer in now give him a month if he says I need time to think, say it's all good we only want people who are committed. Pull the offer, give his agent one less club to use to try and jack up his price. Put Latu in 5/8 and put Galvin in reserve grade. Only release him If we get something we need in return or he sees out his contract, he's only on 300k.

Ah, the old 'deadline' chestnut.

Hasn't worked to gain a signature in 117 years of rugby league, maybe this time though, aye?
Yeah, stops the club being strung along by a degenerate manager who only uses the Tigers to milk other clubs out of more money. Better to give him an offer and let it sit there for over 12 months like we did with Mitchell Moses. If he wanted to stay he won't care about a deadline, he won't need one. It's to protect the clubs interests from his scumbag manager.
