Lame Membership Numbers - Whats the fix?

200 in a day, isn't too bad. wouldve expected better. but they can be pretty slow at updating it, so give it another few days.

we should be trying to break 5k soon in the next week or two, else that's disapppointing given the great draw we got with sunday arvos and stuff like that.

Still sad that WT membership is so poor compared to other clubs..

Remember the slogan in 2000

"Twice the Power, Double the excitement"

Does not apply to membership numbers..

I think it's appalling.

It is the non diehard fans signalling to the board and management they are not happy. They are not going to cop the rubbish that's been dished out over the last couple of years. Fans will come back as members if the club is unified from top to bottom, we have a marquee player to promote the club and we have on field success. I can't say with any confidence we currently fulfill any of this criteria hence the poor results.

After winning 05, i dont think our membership was over 10k.. Even with almost making the GF in 2010 & 2011, we still could not crack 15k to 20k like souths, bulldogs and broncos

we are 2nd last in memberships excluding raiders whose numbers haven't come out. warriors are below us at 2.5k but i dunno when they came on sale.

this is extremely poor, i'm still hoping it's an issue with the counter not being updated and we've actually already crossed 4k or 4.5k (not great but given last year it's not atrocious).

We got a great draw, great value memberships (few things to work on but still good), large fan base (supposedly) and a somewhat promising future.

numbers from back then are irrelevant to be honest. memberships in the NRL have doubled from 2009 to 2013 (113k to 229k) and Dave Smith wants to do the same over the next 4 years and crack 400k.

2011 and 2012 numbers were slightly north of 11k which at the time was passable. we should be aiming for well above 10k this year and 15k next year if we do alright.

for comparison, the eels after spooning twice have doubled our membership tally and are competing with the dogs for who can reach 20k first. tight race, dogs have the edge though. honestly pretty disappointed…..

Well now that the draw's been released I can look at ticketing options. It was pointless for me before, since they were selling an unknown quantity.

Website shows 3863 now. By this stage in 2011 and 2012 we were over 5000.

yup. quite disappointing to be honest. especially given the Eels are past 10,000\. and the panthers are also beating us quite convincingly.

We might have to start selling a single game General Admission membership. Buy a membership to one game, as you are now a member your get your future games at a reduced price.
Will eliminate those fans who are unsure if they can make it to several games.
Just a thought !

The fact that many other Sydney clubs have already tripled our membership tally is very worrying. I actually think we may be coming last out of every club in the NRL.

I don't really understand how Parra can have so many though, unless they're free or linked with WSW tickets. They've been awful for ages, and still have a very average squad.

There can't be that much Benji loving fools out there that without him they won't come? On the other hand the ignorance of most fans means they have no idea that we have any good kids coming through, they might have heard of 'that Brooks kid' but to them they see a list of unknowns and get disappointed they're not all playing Origin.

Names like Simona and Nofoaluma meant nothing at the beginning of last season too.

If we win, or do very well at the 9s that will give the general fan more confidence and should see a boost.

It was a given that Benji put backsides on seats ….. No marquee signing and a lacklustre marketing campaign and the results are there for all too see .... Just not good enough.

For years i have said that poor WT membership has been due to multi home venues.. This may still be a factor, but i think its something about WT muddled identity and dealing with a fan base that is so mixed demographically..

Fans who are unsure where the home of WT is, who they represent, fans who feels that WT is not a legacy of their original 1908 club, poor on field performance, poor management of contracts, tim sheens debacle and perhaps much more..

what would you have done differently? benji turned US down after a 700k offer, there's no money in the cap for a marque signing unless you're willing to let Simona/Nofo/Koro/Brooks/Moses go and their marketting wasn't that bad.

failure to sign Benji was alway going to hurt in the Membership department, but I feel the real hurt will happen in the corporate department in the next 12 months.

Wests Tigers need an over-night hero!

He cant play forever…..there was always going to be a post benji era - whether he remained a one club player or not

Dry your eyes girls....another good looking poster boy is on the horizon for you to swoon over
