The meeting, which will be attended by the boards of Western Suburbs football club, Balmain football club, Wests Ashfield Leagues Club, Wests Campbelltown Leagues Club and Balmain Leagues Club, will be the first time the partners in the joint venture have come together since the formation of Wests Tigers in 1999.

I agree with Staks. It is crazy to think this is first time the stakeholders have met since 1999.

Wests Ashfield Leagues Club, which effectively bankrolls Wests Tigers as Balmain Leagues Club has been closed for more than two years, agreed to fund the Magpies' NSW Cup team after supporters organised a protest rally in February to save the club.

Is this correct? Does not sound it to me - surely Balmain has been meeting its obligations?

Ryde-Eastwood & WT fund BRET. The junior league is supported by five dock/flemington clubs. Balmain Leagues is not technically part of JV (football club is) wests are broken up into 3 (ashfield, campbelltown and magpies fc)

What Balmain FC actually contributes to WT is prob small (like magpies FC) its Ashfield that is the strongest contributor to WT

Makes you wonder would happen if the Ashfield crew insisted that all NSW cup games for the Magpies were to be played at Lidcombe. Not trying to cause problems, the thought just occurred to me.

The Maggie's football club can only survive with the funding from Ashfield.
While ever they have that they will survive. If one day Ashfield pulls the pin then that's it.

The development doesn't affect me in any direct way what so ever.

but indirectly it is definately effecting the Magpies plight to survive as a football club.

No where have I ever said I am trying to get the Magpies back into the NRL.
I personally believe the Wests Tigers currently are too valuable a brand to get rid off.

Yeah right, I refer you to post number 3:

And posts 5 and 17:

Your facade on here is pitiful.

Well this is the difference between most of the Balmain fans on here and some of the Magpies fans. We don't run a forum where the members flat out abuse the office holders of the other half of the JV.

Sure they've got a right, just like I've got a right to say they're a disgrace and the Wests Tigers doesn't need people like that. They're welcome to drink their KB and watch park football for the rest of their lives. And that includes some people who post on this forum while at the same time are over at the Magpies site big noting themselves for yelling abuse at the BRET officials.

As with many of your statements I have an issue with the logic of this statement.

Tim Sheens, the coach and most likely future coaching director of Wests Tgers stated his preference for one Reserve Grade side as far back as 2007 for football operational reasons.

The logical thing to do, from at least where I am sitting, would be to have this side under the Wests Tigers banner. I have always stated that I believe Western Suburbs and Balmain junior rep sides should remain just that but have some administrational input from Wests Tigers. After that graduates will be pulled into the Wests Tigers system thus establishing a clearly branded and staged progression under the one banner which is a little bit of a metaphor for the joint venture in itself.

If I wanted to be glib I would suggest your theories are of the tin foil hat level conspiracy but there is no need to insult you like that. I do however believe your viewpoint is tragically skewed because you, through reason of both loyalty to a proud past and a continuance of what you came to know through your formative years, feel that the Western Suburbs Magpies is the only pathway that should lead out of the Macarthur region.

As such rather than looking at things from a football operations or business perspective it is easier for you to believe that this is part of a larger plot to get in before Balmain collapses and things revert back to a chance for the Wests Group to take over the administration of the Wests Tigers. I hate to burst that bubble but it will never happen. Should the worst happen and Balmain Leagues Club were to go belly up the Football Club would still exist as a solvent entity and they have benefactors willing to pay whatever contribution, if any, the Wests Tigers require in forms of grants.

On the topic of the development I have gone through in several topics on various occasions why I support the development (though I do believe a reduction in scale compromise needs to and will be found) with the exclusion of any Leagues club interest as I am very much pro strategic density development over urban sprawl.

Also I would like to ask that people refrain from bagging other forums on here.

We are our own community of Wests Tigers fans with our own set of standards and we do not need to lower ourselves as a forum to the level of mudslinging in that regard.

Thanks

The real problem for me is, that I currently don't see the Wests Tigers proposal as being the best thing for the area.

In theory it mights sound good, but that's all the proposal is. A theory. Where's the substance?
Where's the ground work. Where's the business plan? How are they going to tackle the issues of getting kids to training who can't get to Concord?
Have Wests Tigers ever talked to local clubs about what they need to help develop kids into the footballers Wests Tigers need?

yeah they talk to the Wests junior League, but they are completely out of touch with whats happening.

I ask, how often has Tim Sheens, not his assistants… come to Campbelltown to see how the area is going?

I will get into it in more detail in a new thread as this really is about the Rozelle proposal and quite frankly I am about to hit the old hay.

Quickly though

* Tim Sheens has no need to go to Campbelltown just as he has no need to go to Balmain district junior games because that is the entire reason you hire development officers, recruitment managers and assistants.

* If the proposals mooted go ahead kids won't have to travel to Concord as the base will be moving to the Macarthur.

* I think your thoughts on talent progression are utterly wrong but that is a more complex explanation for when I have time

* Finally Wests Tigers effectively moved in to aid administration at the start of the year so it is a bit early to expect too much. I would ask however have any of the previous controlling entities ever even put forward theories, formed committees or a cohesive strategic plan for the area? If they haven't they have blown their opportunity and WT have done more in 7 months than they have for their entire tenure.

Have a good one and as I said if you want to talk non Rozelle development issues I would ask you start a new topic

Cheers
