Demonstrated both teams deserve to be where they are. Ironically, on paper. our squad appeared stronger, with both teams relying on individual's brilliance more so than the result of well coached teams. When we started to play a more expansive type of football (which seems to be in our DNA) we looked solid, but for reasons best know to the team (or the coaches) we went away from it in the second half.
It is a sad state of affairs when Wakeman makes Brooks look like a champion half, but he can only do what he knows how to do. Surprisingly, Laurie looked slick at 5/8, but again this may be more a result of who we were playing rather than the realization that this is where he should be playing in his career. This said, I would continue with him there. For the others, the usual mix of those that are class footballers and those that aspire to be - take your pick.

I guess the hardest thing is how to remain motivated from here on. Souths on Friday will be another test of our mantle, but knowing there is nothing to lose, may just be enough to push us over the line.

2 spoons in a row is almost a given, how we decide to go down is entirely up to us.

Well said. So true.
Dragons showed right from the start with their, in your face, defense they were up for this.
We kept to our game plan and were not too bad, except for penalties, until second half. We lost the plot. Wakeham, poor fella just doesn't have it, Laurie's played his heart out.
Coaches problem not the players. But I wouldn't want the job for quids, as they say.

The motivation for us needs to be 'we don't want to be on the bottom of the ladder', surely that's enough incentive

Not a motivational coach by any stretch of the imagination. But I would say that as a player, or as any professional (athlete or not) you have a duty to put in 100%. After all, that is all that you can do, and if the results are not there, at the least what you end with is the attitude and habit of giving your 100%.

Excellent theory TH but not always the case.
I’m sure most coaches would be more than happy if they knew they were getting 100% from each of their squad.
There is a theory called “fear of failure” that sometimes overtakes athletes who have tried and failed or made mistakes. They subconsciously draw back to prevent a repeat. Imo I think that’s what happens in NRL regularly.
