Latu Fainu #282

It’s long odds atm, but if schuster has actually turned it around if he played 13 well it would really help ad and I reckon it would work with him in the halves, because then js has the ball playing ability we lack with ad and Luai in the halves and he still has the size to play in the forwards. I’m worried about his aggression and work rate tho
Forget Schuster in any forward planning at this stage..

My thoughts is the club and benji really don’t have a plan for Latu , and I think this might come back and bit us on the arse , with samula not signed , this could see him move on then followed by his brothers , Latu is not getting the education as a 1/2 back , just been thrown from position to position, benji needs to get on top of this asap
Definitely on the cards
One of the problems with sets of brothers at the club

Makes sense, are you expecting Lanyon to play 80 though?

If not, only options are Latu or Hayward, neither should be there. Clubs made their bed with going into the year as Hope the backup, now they need to lie in it rather than sacrificing another kid who isnt ready
Alex Seyfarth can play dummy half. He can do anything. All you need to do is believe.

Was he playing as a half in those, mate?
He's been playing off the bench as a utility and due to injuries/suspensions he has floated between half and hooker. I like the way he played at hooker.

There have been a few posts made that Latu hasn't been correctly developed, and I agree with them.

However, part of the problem is that he's also been injury prone.

2024 - Hamstring tear
2025 - Broken hand/thumb
2026 - Shoulder reconstruction

Latu isn’t a hooker or lock though, so it’s unfair to compare him with those stats, that would be like putting madden at prop and wondering why his numbers for running meters tackle busts etc are so low
If you look at the history of Robbie Farah, he played all his junior footy as a halfback, but due to his 5'10 and 90kg size, he switched to hooker.

Latu is 5'11 and 93kg. His body is built for being a 9.

Shoulder surgery was 2025 not 2026. That was a SLAP tear, common in contact sport. Seems he is on top of his hamstring issues. The last one in 2025 happened at training while he was recovering from thumb surgery. Skelton was out at the same time with his hamstring. Breaking your thumb playing contact sport is bad luck. The HIA that says 8 weeks is thumb surgery . The concussions are a concern, his tackling technique needs work, he often goes too low. This just reads like a young athlete adjusting to playing high level contact sport, who had some bad luck as well.

Manase could be a handy 9? Looks like he could be released in October and start his rehabilitation program? Or maybe he gets a season in cup prior to any consideration to play nrl?

Now you’re just blatantly lying. He hasn’t been floating between hooker and half. He’s been coming on as either hooker or lock.

You’ve literally contradicted yourself again. You brought up his stats and claimed he’s missed his opportunities yet you said you like the way he plays at hooker. Which one is it? He’s missed his opportunities and he has bad stats, or he’s a played well at hooker?

In 10 games those figures speak for themselves
Why don't you pull the numbers from the game he played a full match at #7 vs the roosters last year?

Because it doesn’t fit @Leck ill-informed narrative so expect him to avoid your post like the plague

He had a great game, and that's what we would like to see every time he plays.
