Great to see Rowdy getting recognized and we aren't wasting any big names for the 9's

Still reckon we need to come up with something for the 9's so it gets treated seriously

500 k free salary cap dollars would probably do the trick

Thats actually a very clever initiative Happy. Money alone won't do it, but salary cap flexibility would surely be enough incentive.

Im glad we're resting Robbie and Woodsy. When I had a chat to Fults last week, he mentioned they were our two most valuable players with Teddy, Brooks and Moses also very significant to our chances this year.

Funnily enough he thinks if those 5 players play the majority of 2015 we could finish in the top 4; but gives us no chance of winning the grand final. Work that one out…

As he would say, he's had one to many concussions lol

This is the reason Lawrence won't be going anywhere till the end of the 2016 Season?
From the article :
"But under NRL rules, clubs must name at least one of their five highest paid players in the team for the tournament that kicks off next Saturday week in Auckland."

We really need him to have a big year

Good news for Chris , hope this is a sign of his fitness and mixed with a few young up and comers we may just upset a few in the 9 s , can't write us of I think we will go ok
Fingers crossed no injuries come out of it and it will give us a look at a few that may be backup for top grade
Can't wait to get some footy back on the box

Go the tigers

WESTS Tigers are poised to name star centre Chris Lawrence as their marquee player for the upcoming NRL Nines in Auckland.

The Tigers are set to rest Aussie stars Robbie Farah and Aaron Woods after their exhaustive campaigns for club, state and country last season.

But under NRL rules, clubs must name at least one of their five highest paid players in the team for the tournament that kicks off next Saturday week in Auckland.

Lawrence has struggled with injury in recent seasons but played 21 games in 2014 — his most since 2010.

And the Tigers are hoping the Nines will kick-start a return to form for the former Test centre.

“He is probably the fittest I have ever seen him and looks great for this stage of the year,” Tigers chief executive Grant Mayer said.

“Chris is running well and is the type of player who should be ideally suited to Nines football — he is such a great athlete and strong runner with the ball.”

Mr Mayer it is well known that Rowdy is the hardest working trainer at the club and along with Teddy one of the fittest at the club

Has he got his speed back is the question everyone wants answered ??

Assuming you mean an extra $500k on the next years cap (or even current year although most plans would be in place by then), wouldn't they then need to "reduce" their cap for the following year (unless they keep winning the 9's). That would put unneeded pressure on clubs. To me it's just prize money that gets used as the club sees fit (operational costs etc) but I don't agree with giving salary cap benefits.

They would 18 months to rearrange their squad to fit the extra money for 12 months

You could use it to write a player off if you wanted to get rid of

Or you could still use some for Cap and some for Operational costs if you like

Could be handy in many different ways

I can't see him as one of our top 5 players at this point although I do think he can come good.

Its based on salary not talent

If he hasn't, we should know about five minutes into the first nines game. And, I hate to say it, if he still can't run, it's time to think seriously about his playing future.

This is fraught with danger.
He'd be odds on to get a season ending injury.

Just wondering if Tedescos signing hasn't been announced/registered yet in case it pushes him into our top 5 instead of Lawrence

Not really happy, he's quicker than last year but not as quick as he was prior to the hip injury.

Well he's down to 93kg but Simona and Tedesco still have him covered.
