I do agree 100% with the rest of your post :relaxed:

He is NOT entitled to be paid anywhere near Benji. Chalk and Cheese.

Seriously, he ruled out England, if he had offers at a club he could take them. As it stands his perceived value vs the market value seem to be massively disconnected. He’s the ultimate professional, but if no one want to offer him a contract he needs to reconsider. It’s not the just club.

We don’t know he hasn’t been offered a contract, maybe the $140k being what he wants to stay is to match another offer and if we can match that he’ll be happy to forego the other offer.

lets be honest Lawrence in 2020 will most likely be a NSW cup backrower. Madge has been hunting either a right 2nd rower or a lock with Matterson in the other role.

Thier is no place for Lawrence on the bench with CheeKam offering more flexibility as does ET. Garner has the left spot sown up so how much money can you pay for a NSW cup backrower.

Probably ask Chris McQueen..

Well if Lawrence is after more coin, then he is deluded. IMO, he either takes what is on offer or retires. Honestly he really offers bugger all in attack, defence is ok but I really even question whether he is the top 17.

No place for him next year with Garner. I’d be looking at

11. Garner
12. Matto
13. Aloiai

With ET and MCK on the bench.

The question was asked in the post-match presser - Madge made it very clear he wants Rowdy next season but he has a limited salary cap to work with.

The news keeps getting worse.

Sounds like he’s being diplomatic. Lawrence is a club legend, and Madge is probably only trying to show him the proper respect.

West Tigers isn't a retirement club anymore. Sorry Chris. Enjoy retirement.

Yep
The club needs to draw the line ...
Bye bye Lawrence...

Is that like you have the full support of the board but......

Anything under 150 you have to keep him, but only if we clear at least 1 deadweight back rower first. If not then it isn’t a money issue, it’s a squad balance issue. I think it will be one of the saddest ends to a club career if he isn’t with us next year but understand it much more than any other brain dead decision we have made with retention.

The issue is not whether he is worth 150k (which he is), but more so if we have only 1 or so cap spot, is there someone who can improve the squad more than lawrence? And if there is we have to go with that person.

A player of similar age is Mitch Aubusson- unfortunately Chris does not offer the same utility value. If he did he could be retained. A hard nosed mob like the Roosters gave him an extra year purely on his value to the team.

As much as i like Rowdy, and he has been a great servant of the Wests Tigers.
The NRL is now a business, and there isn't much room for sentiment these days if you want to be successful.
I suppose we could offer him an ambassadorial role on the sly!!!! Whoops

Let him go !
Waste of a jersey imo ..
If he’s short of a quid he’ll have to sell his shares in one of his race horses ...
It’s a hard life 🙄

Its a hard knock life...for us... damn u hobbo...i now have a song stuck in my head

Who will be better in 2021-22 Lawrence or a younger prospect? Our edge forwards are an area of strength Matterson, Garner and MCK as a backup need the game time. We have other needs we need to address. I have no issue with him as a backup on 100k though.
