Lawrence to weigh up future after ruling out Super League move

This was bound to happen.
Last few weeks on Triple M Emma Lawrence has been harping on about her brothers contract.
Calling out Pascoe to sign him up for another 2 years.
She even said she confronted Pascoe and he couldn't give her an answer.
No other club has offered him anything and he won't go to England because he can't run his business at the same time.

He needs to sort out what's more important. Playing on or running a business.

I might be wrong on this... But I just can't see another NRL team offering him a contract

In light of a lot of comments on here - I hope Chris has learned his lesson of being loyal and self sacrificing.

To offer him 100 or 120k is the absolute biggest insult.

Much better for them to have McIntyre, Smith, Seyfarth, Lealuga-Puhotau, Bradley, Jennings and Eisenhuth taking up spots in the 30.

Sign with another club Rowdy if you want to continue playing. Wests Tigers do not deserve you.

Lealuga-Puhotau isn't on an nrl contract for another 15 months....

Every single club has rookies on minimum wage. They're not the issue. The problem is McQueen. He's taking Rowdy's spot, unless he goes, or McIntyre, then there's no room for Chris.

At this stage of his career Chris is a 150k player, the same as Benji and Robbie. He shouldn't be expecting anything more than what they're getting.

He is a one-club legend, one of our best ever players who has given all his heart and soul to our club and always will.
He deserves to play on next year, more so than a few of the blokes we have on our books.
He hasn't been involved in or been the cause of any controversy while playing for our club and certainly wasn't involved in our club being $300,000 + down on our salary cap at the start of this year.

It’s a tough business but it’s business.
He is a Player towards the end of his career and is a injury risk. At best a year to year proposition.
Don’t get me wrong I totally agree that it can be seen as being disrespectful to a long term servant of the club who made sacrifices in the past. But I really would like him to retire. I don’t want to see him end his career playing cc next year.

Is McIntyre in our top 30 next year? Who would you rather have?

After years of trying to clean up a cap mess, it took 1 year of recruitment Ivan style to return us to square one.

No wonder him and Egan are gone.

Dylan Smith in our top 30 for next year too. Wasted roster spots.

You can’t call them wasted roster spots when you have to have your top 30 spots filled by June 30 and you don’t have the money to bring in anyone of note.

If I remember, we couldn’t offer Tim Mannah enough money to come here. So the club filled the spots with our development players. Am I missing something?

Didn't Chris help us out with his contract by extending & taking his money over a longer period, we owe him something.

No wasn't money Mannah changed his mind and given the late hour they promoted development players and rejigged some re-signings....

I think it's more about limited positions in the 30. We have a bunch of players that we'd rather not be there but we can't offload (McQueen, Packer, Reynolds, Matulino) Get rid of McQueen, and maybe we could keep Chrissy.

Chris should be kicking Cleary in the butt after his CAP mess for which the club is now paying.

Not to mention the CEO's cap penalty.

@cqtiger I think that the top 30 spot that they’d have to use for Chris is more valuable than any amount they’d pay him considering he qualifies for long service discount

@happy_tiger I think there were other radio interviews earlier but I did hear Chris yesterday on 2MMM. Talking to M.G. He did mention this could possibly be his last game as a Tiger. A contract extension is looking unlikely. They didn't spend much time talking about that. More of M.G being a client of Lawrence's.

I really don't get how people that want the club to be profitable, successful and act with fiscal responsibility, also want the club to offer Rowdy more than every other club in the competition are prepared to pay for his services. He's been well rewarded financially for his terrific service to date. But there comes a time when things end. It's not about loyalty or the lack thereof, it's just business. Chris is hardly gonna go broke by missing out on a paltry 50k or so. Although, the old "I have to look after my young family" line will get trotted out at some point soon no doubt.

I remember Chris Sandow trotted out that line when he signed with Parra. His contract was somewhere in the ballpark of 550k per year, and the reason he gave for accepting it was that he could take care of his family. Clearly struggling to do so on the 350-400k he was already on at Souths.

If you take the emotion out of this unfortunate situation Chris should not be resigned. His best playing days expired about eight years back, due to his very unfortunate hip injury. Fortunately for him he had a very lucrative contract signed and sealed, and good luck to him.

I would never be critical of Chris Lawrence the clubman a better one you'll ever meet.

What should have happened weeks ago was for Farah to have been given a deadline re his ambassador's job, (has he actually accepted yet) and if he couldn't give a straight answer the job should have been given to Chris Lawrence.

Easy for Benji to say that when he is being signed up

how much would you offer him?

200k for 1 year.

I guess the bad blood stems from when Chris Lawrence re-negotiated his contract a few years back to help with the salary cap. I get Stephen Humphreys handshake vibes from this. Maybe Lawrence feels he is owed one after doing the club a solid in a sense.

Lawerence didn’t accept less money.
He renegotiated his 2 year contract over 3
Was something like 700,000 over 2 years stretched out to 750,000 over 3.

Hooper on FOX now saying Pascoe and Rowdy had words today, he reckons the club only needs $140k for him to sign

Maybe it's not about the money for the club.
Maybe Madge just wants him gone as it's the easiest option right now to make some space.
