Lawrence: We can beat anybody..

I love Rowdy, though when I read the subject the first thought/image that popped into In my head was of Rowdy smoking from a bong.. Having said we will win a few.. No doubt..

In essence lawrence is correct because any team can beat any other team. What we lack and have always lack is consistency i would love to see that change but am not holding my breath

And, who is one of the prime offenders in the lack of consistency? Chris Lawrence. Yet, he is trotted out to inspire some hope for us.

I know he is part of the leadership group and I get the sense he is highly respected by the team, as is Dene Halatau, but these guys aren't superstars of the game and are at the end of their careers.

Surely there's others out there to have more of a media presence and public profile for the Club? Ava Seumanafagai is impressive, for instance, in his media work.

We've heard it all before from Chris!

But, at least in 2016 we'll be spared the embarrassment of Keith Galloway giving us all the rallying cry in some article. invariably to see him get "owned" by the opposition pack.

Words are cheap, and often, meaningless.

We can't have a team of superstars. Lawrence and Halatau were good for us last year and hopefully will be good again this year. They aren't the problem.

Your opinion LCA - respect that.

Let's not go back into the archives though - let's talk more recent. Rowdy was very consistent during the 2015 season. He was pretty close to our best forward during the year. Credit where credit is due.

They are not highly respected for nothing - Players do not respect other team mates, just for having a beer with them. You are in the trenches with each other and they know who they want to be in there with. Maybe Dene is getting close to the end of his career (had a great season last year) but Rowdy being at the end of his career at 27? Don't think so.

Probably the best player we have to speak to the media is Rowdy bar none. Ava has a lot to learn in this regard - maybe he can have a go in four years, when he reaches the end of his career at 27.

From my memory there were not too many forwards who owned Big Keith. We'll miss him.

Finally maybe they are, but very difficult to do an interview without words - could be a new trend though "an interview without words" now that really would be meaningless. LOL

I know people get sick of these interviews, but they are designed to raise our profile. We need them attract members and our sponsors expect a certain degree of media coverage.

Sure, they're trite, but what else can he say? "We can get beaten by any team on our day. Best stay home on match day."

yes well people are staying home because of the poor way the club is run Lawrence wont be there next year wow played a couple of good games he has been shocking for years this club is a joke last place coming up again . another long year of bs from Lawrence farah taylor yadda yadda yadda zzzzz . the club is dead set joke a reserve grade side with a couple of first graders .

Nice rant …kinda reminds me of the bloke who started a thread on another forum in 05....The spoon is heading to Cambo... Before a ball was kicked in anger...

Lawry looks bulked, and we know he is tenacious enough to play 2nd row. I'm hoping he plays well enough to get a reasonable offer for next year.

You sound a bit down in the dumps, tiger45\. Don't worry, mate. This club has recovered from worse.

We do hear it each year, but what do we expect? Players to say something like "sorry all, this year's gonna be rubbish, let's wait until next year or the year after" just doesn't cut it. Of course they can beat anyone on their day. Hopefully they have plenty of good days on the field and a low injury count. One can only hope.

Russell, thank you for your detailed reply. Naturally. we disagree on lots of points. But, there's some things we agree upon.

Lawrence and Halatau are great clubmen who have given everything they have for the good of the team and the club. That's not under question.

Both Lawrence and Halatau had impressive form in 2015.

I really disagree with your assessment of Ava, though, as a spokesperson for the club. I find him to be poised, articulate, thoughtful, direct and informative. And, that was in 2015 and, no doubt now too. Not in 4 years time.

And, the comparative merit of Keith Galloway as a forward leader? He would not rate in the top 20 NRL forwards, in my opinion.

youre comparing this squad to 05 squad lol bwhhhaaa . yeh umm okay . mate you don't need a phd to see were going to struggle again . weve made a handful of semis in oure existence been cellar dwellers for yonks came equal last last year . still have taylor Farrah at same club lost a multidude of players . signed a lot of rejects outcasts . mate I i hope we win every game and iam proved wrong I love the joint . but the reality is we will be lucky to win five games max . youre only kidding yourself if you think where going to keep up with well run clubs . and clubs that bought well . weve been a poor run club for years pre joint venture Balmain wests were two of the worst run clubs ever . its no surprise together and now justs wests side there a shocking run club. we have a side of plooders couple of goers bit of class here n there but overall we are a state cup side playing the big boys . if we keep going the way we are there wont be a club . saying we might snaek in eight or higher is just wishfull thinking . but hope iam wrong .

Don't get so negative Tiger45\. It's only footy. Enjoy it for what it is. Like you mentioned, we do have some class here and there, and the rest will improve.
By the way, welcome to the forum 😱pen_mouth: i think…
