What do with do with Lawry?

He offers absolutely nothing off the bench. I can't think of anyone 'less' suited to the bench.

So, he has to start...or go.

What does he offer? Well, he is good at pressuring kickers and none of our forwards did that yesterday. Taylor had forever to place his kicks.

So, he does fulfill a 'need' we have. He works hard and can defend.

Against that...he offers very little else and he would probably need to take Garner's spot / Garner to the bench.

Garner has been very good, so that would be tough.

But it has to be starting or gone. The balance is all wrong with him at 17.

So...what to do with him?

Start? or Gone?

Potentially start him at lock. His front on defence has always been strong. Not sure he is better than Twal though. Something like this maybe?...

8. Aloiai
9. Grant
10. Twal
11. Garner
12. Lucy
13. Lawrence

14. Mikaele
15. Clark/Packer
16. Musgrove
17. Walters/MCK

You are asking a very hard question for Wests tiger supporters

Yes, I am not sure of the answer myself.

I can see a (weakish) case for him starting.

I can see a (fairly strong) case for him missing out on the 17.

I can't really see any case for him on the bench. It used to be 'well, he can cover the backs in an emergency'...but he is nowhere near mobile enough to do that in 2020. His game offers zero impact for a benchie.

Do you think he has the mobility for lock?

He seems only really able to run straight lines now? A lock needs a lot of mobility.

Agree the bench spot and playing him in the
Middle is a bit odd. But He is a good defender and that’s why Madge wants him there in the middle.

Could potentially start him on the right edge to shore up their defence, move Garner back to the left where he specialises and bring in Luci Lu off the bench for impact?

Hard to say. I do know that our pack lacks a bit of experience & that we wouldn’t start Rowdy on an edge over Garner or Lucy. Aloiai is still going well but Mikaele seemed to struggle a bit yesterday & would probably be better off the bench for a few games with Musgrove, Packer or even Twal starting in his place. Maybe Rowdy’s time is up.

Gone. 15 minutes of game time isn't helping him and I'd be playing someone a bit more dynamic like MCK. We need a bit more energy and X-factor, not that we have a lot but Rowdy's time has past.

A silly inclusion by Maguire on the bench. And he was only used in the last 15 minutes. Taylor offers energy in defence and can ball play, MCK has X-factor, Musgrove has aggression. All offer more value than what Lawrence provides.

Our club will forever owe Chris Lawrence a debt for what he has put his body through for this club. He doesn't deserve to go out this way. But we need to make the tough decision to ensure we aren't forever stuck in 9th place. We always seem to have a token selection on either reputation, name or sentiment. Thanks for all you've done Chris, but the time has come.

Not a bad idea - I am not convinced Luciano should be starting, I think he would have more impact for us coming off the bench. Maybe Lawrence would be good defending on an edge and running the inside out angled runs that he has successfully in the past. That line has more value now under the new rules when the middles are getting tired. Maybe he shares time with Luciano.

Gone a year too long. Coach is being kind to him by keeping him on the bench, if he is serious about changes he needs to have more dynamic players i.e MCK etc on the bench. And that means Lawrence gets relegated.

hey all, nasser here.

he has to go or start. but him coming on for 20 mins offers nothing. Musgrove at that stage could give us some impact, or chee kam, or even corey floating around in a support role.

Love the guy but not up to it and should not be in the 17 at the moment. A backup only, just in case.
