Lazarus's Chances?

Either way I reckon it will be Lazarus or Taumata being named in the team today. I'd like to see a genuine half steer the Tigers around, and I'd also like to see someone with a bit of pace and ticker at fullback hit the ball up. Hope that's not asking too much…

I 100% agree with CT, in that Blake Lazarus is going to be our best option for the No#7 jersey, but currently I really don't know if his knees are up to the step up in pace and the toughness of NRL footy.

But if chosen by Sheens, I am really hoping he also picks Sean Meaney at Fullback…...this is more important, as Sean won't let the team down at the back, as Tim has

If Lazo is picked , the team could look like this,
\
\
1.Sean Meaney
2.Beau Ryan
3.Blake Ayshford
4.Chris Lawrence
5.Lote Tuquiri

6.Benji Marshall
7.Blake Lazarus/Tim Moltzen

13.Chris Heighington
12.Gareth Ellis
11.Liam Fulton
10.Keith Galloway
9.Robbie Farah
8.Bryce Gibbs

14.Tim Moltzen/Blake Lazarus
15.Junior Moors
16.Todd Payten
17.Andrew Fifita.

I would prefer they keep Lazo in State Cup for another 2 to 3 weeks and just promoted Meaney to fullback, Moltzex to #7 and Flanagan to the bench.......but I guess we will all know in another 8 hours

Lazarus has to be selected imo. Why else have we kept him at the club for two years without playing hardly a game? He must have been earmarked early as a first grader and there is no time like the present.

I havent seen enough of Lazarus (because of injuries) to really have an educated opinion on how he plays but fom what i saw of him V Newtown he deadset looks like he would be strugglin to be 70kg's sopping wet… Does anyone here think he may be too small to have a good dig at first grade??

Have to agree his weight does worry me but haven't honestly seen enough of him to comment on his defence. If someone like Ellis or Payten can defend next to him like the job Beau Scott does for Soward shouldn't be a problem. Would love top see him get an opportunity but we all know its going to be
1.Fitzy
7.Moltzen

While I wish he was a bit bigger - it didn't stop Brett Hodgson from being a great 1st grader. It's the heart that counts sometimes - provided they don't get injured of course. Cheers. Jake Mullaney is only slight too isn't he ?

You can almost guarentee Fitzy will be fullback because he is considered the "safest" option and Daniella on the bench to cover injury to a back. I would actually have Fitzy on the bench (has looked ok this year) and Meaney or another player that is actually a fullback to play that role if Lote is not ready yet.

Mullaney is a midget and not ready for first grade after watching him against the Sharks and again on the weekend against the Chooks NYC squad. Too big a defensive liability.

Yeah I know mate, he hardly looked his usual self, but given his build, he'd get monstered on the field in FG. It wouldn't have looked good with Anasta raining bombs down on him with players charging through.

Only a few hours to go before we find out who will be wearing the 1 on their back on Friday night.

Yeah but that had nothing to do with the forwards aiming up….The side actually went forward so the halves prospered

Defence went from conceding 24ppg to 13ppg....during that period...still nothing to do with it....

It was all because Moltzen wore 7.....

I haven't been this anxious about a team line-up since 2005.
