Lee & JP finally lose the confidence of the Board??

Geez, a lot of you are only scratching the surface here.

Lee has been chair since Nov 2019. About 4 years now. We've missed the eight for 12 years!

He's got his faults, BUT HE IS NOT THE ISSUE! He's just the most visible. Tony Andreacchio is really selling you guys a Raine & Horne lemon here. Here's where the rot lies...
  • Tony Andreacchio - Property Agent - Since 2012 (Chair of HBG)
  • Dennis Burgess - Musician - At least since 2014 (Director HBG)
  • Danny Stapleton - Painter - Since 2005. Can also say ex-player, but played for 2 years only.
  • Rick Wayde - Broadcaster - At least since 2016 (Director HBG)
These are the mainstays of our board who have overseen our demise. I also see Julie Romero's profile as not being able to add much. Mid-level manager in insurance.

We need to identify the real problem first. The above is the problem.

They may be good people, but I see 5 people who are Flegg-grade business people who have been the problem for far too long. If they truly cared about the club, they'd step aside and find some stronger business/footy people for their seats.

Thank you mate.

Nailed it!!

Appreciate you.

Justin has done some good on financial side but I think the club would be looking at a suitable CEO to replace him that is not connected to the WT in any way.

They'd probably pay overs for a top candidate amd probably should look even overseas.

But it would take time.
In a footy club, money is only useful if you can use it to attract the right people. Our issue.

Waydes been involved in sports administration for decades.

He essentially is the extension of the HB group on the WT board.

Have you seen the boards of other clubs.?

Not many high profile business people want to serve in an honoury position that have a passion for the club.

If things go well the coaches and players get the wrap.

If things go bad it could be the board.
I have seen the other boards. That's the issue. I did a recent analysis in here on the well-balanced Panthers and you only need to take one look at the Roosters to realise we are flegg grade in comparison to both.

Wayde is probably a nice bloke, but he's been out of private enterprise since 1981. My birth year... and I'm not young!

Those last 2 sentences are funny mate. The board is the only one who has avoided accountability. We've had god knows how many coaches and players. It's been bad for a decade and they are still here. It's pretty easy to get high-powered people in there, the problem is that they can only take the independent slots.

Our issue is structural and the current board is in it for themselves, not the club. If they had any desire to see the club succeed, it would just need a bit of self-reflection.

Yes, these guys are THE problem.
Unfortunately they commissioned the review.
Lee and Pascoe will likely get punted and they’ll deserve it, however the football club desperately needs these HBG people removed from the Wests Tigers Board because they clearly do not understand footy and they clearly do not care.

Probably done the better recruitment over the last 2 years.

But the hunt for an appropriate ceo will take time.
I liked our recruitment last year but think we needed to keep solid with the plan and double down this year. Instead we threw it all in the trash and signed more unproven kids.

Don't care.

Really?

HBG are the owners.

You seem to have alot of trouble understanding the concept of ownership for a right wing person.

Anything else but changing those 5 board members into independents is putting a bandaid on something needing stitches.

We need to fix our governance structure to bring in accountability. It's probably impossible given the ownership, but it's the core of the problem.

We need some balls in that group and I'm not seeing it. These directors act like owners, not custodians.

If the P&L is so great like Pascoe says, why don't they list it?!

Can't recall the boards of other clubs being in focus for better or for worse.

CEOs yes, but boards?

Even if the club decided to replace all of them you would struggle to find suitable candidates, given they would need to have a passion for the club.

See, this is the thing. It is a non-profit organization. The directors are not owners, more so custodians for their members and community.

A right-wing person believes in the free market and competition. This is the furthest thing from it.

The directors are a proxy for the owners..the HB group.

Right wingers believe ownership equals control.......me anyway.

In a free market, if I own a book shop, and everyone is buying their books from the other bookstores, I go out of business.

I control nothing in the end.

Off the top of my head.

* Barry O'Farrell
* Harry T
* Alan Jones
* Wayne Pierce
* Arthur Laundy

... I mean, even the blue wiggle would be better than Dennis. Built a far bigger business in music.

There are a lot out there. c-level execs and whatnot who are closet Tigers fans. I'm in Singapore and even find the odd international business high-flyer here who loves them. The Tigers had the 88-89 team that had a lot of blokes into their 40-50s supporting the Tigers. They'll be at prime age.

We can do a lot better.

If you own a bookshop … you aren’t going to let others make decisions you have no control over …

Why would the owners of the WT let others make decisions they dont ultimately control?
