Leichhardt oval - short documentary help

Hello.

I earn my bread and butter as an editor in reality TV. I'm wanting to shoot a short documentary about Wests Tigers @ Leichhardt. What it means for locals, fans etc, what games are like at local venues with history - such as Leichhardt, compared to massive (and often largely empty) venues such as ANZ. We see one or two games there a year. Is that enough. What would it mean to people if the team were to stop playing there entirely, etc etc.

I just wanted to ask if I set up nearby Leichhardt oval one game day - if any here would be willing to lend their voice? Also, if anybody has somebody they recommend I talk to (who might be willing to talk)?

This is just a little passion project of mine to share online.

Don't bother asking the "locals." Most of them probably couldn't give a stuff.

Maybe start with Wayne Pearce. http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/league-news/wests-tigers-can-have-leichhardt-oval-for-a-steal-if-they-commit-to-playing-there-20150328-1m9xnh.html

That's a great idea. Don't worry about the cynical feedback from the comments here. Go to the game and talk to people. They will have some stories to tell!

they can say what they want - but there's nothing they can do about it.

Look what Humphreys did to Wests in the late 70's through greg hartley.

thank god - (grand order design) it's not the end of the world

Leichhardt Oval is a special place for Western Suburbs Magpies -
that cup that Tommy and Keith are holding as they hop along below is at Leichhardt Oval
our solitary piece of silverware before we were rubbed out

I could probably get in contact with Dawn Fraser if your interested, the place is pretty special to me, my grandfather and father have been taking me there since as far back as I can remember. My auntie lives within walking distance, game days there's always a special feeling around the area especially after a win.
I still see Laurie throwing punches walking around the ground whenever I get the chance to get to a game (I live on the sunshine coast now) I actually want to have my ashes spread on the ground I've informed my family that it's my wish. I'd love to hear how it turns out and see the finished product. All the best with it, keep us posted.
