Why would VLandys go to Darcy and not the WestsTigers?

Because he is the mayor and the council own the ground? Tigers are one of a few tenants.

But what does that have to do with VLandys? Why would he be lobbying the State Govt on behalf of the local govt? He should only be concerned with what the club wants.

Not much point lobbying for $$$ or asking what a tenant wants if the owner isnt on board.
I still dont see why he cares what a 2 bit mayor wants and not what the tenant , one of his clubs, wants.

Really? You cant see why they would ask the owner of the property if they want or can upgrade the property or what the owner of the property wants? Seriously?

They should just leave it up to the tenant to if or what happens to someone elses property?

Yes, the chairman of the NRL should be interested in the club, not the council. I'm happy for you to see otherwise.

Awesome.....so V'landys goes to the Tigers and gets a wish list, goes to Govt, gets the cash and then the owner says no, we dont want that. That works for you?

Mate not sure why you get bent out of shape.

YOU asked the question "Why would V'landys talk to Darcy". I sensibly and politely answered your question with a very valid reason why V'landys would need to talk to Darcy and you want to push it to a cliff?

Not sure why you are on a discussion forum if you are going to ask questions without them being discussed. What did I say that got you bent out of shape?

it is a council ground V'Landys likes the suburban grounds he has said it time and again. Tigers dont own LO so tou go to the council it is a facility others can use too
makes sense

Which other tenant would need the ground updated? Darcy even said the upgrade would be to keep the ground suitable for NRL. Shouldnt the chairman of the NRL be concerned with what the tigers want?

I actually dont really see the issue with it. I think it works well at present. Rather be at Leichhardt or Campbelltown against out of towners. You get 15-18K at Leichhardt against Cowboys or 12K at Homebush.

I accept that many here see having one home ground as the final piece of the puzzle for the soul of the Tigers, but I really dont think we are all of a sudden going to find success solely playing out of Homebush.

For mine Leichhardt & Campbelltown GIVE the club some soul rather than soulless Homebush or Bankwest which has someone elses soul. Im biased but Leichhardt has soul and Campbelltown is the link to that region that seems to be getting phased out which would an error IMO.

Gal, no one is saying that the Tigers shouldnt get consulted, but you asked why did V'landys speak to Darcy. Jedi and I have both clearly pointed out why V'landys would go and speak to the owner of the property.

For all you, me, Pascoe or V'Landys know Council may have plans to demolish the stand and put up Meriton apartments.

I haven't lived in Sydney for forty years, so perhaps things have changed, but public transport access to the ground used to be terrible and car parking was pretty awful too. has any of that changed?

Light rail stop minutes from the ground. Parking is not bad if you keep south of city west link and are prepared for a ten minute walk

You guys just don’t get do you ... the club needs MONEY and the money comes from Corporations and supporters willing to spend $thousands every year to attend games in a stadium that offers modern facilities ... this is where the main game is like it or not . The club has no choice but to pander to where the money will come from in the future ... supporters have had 20 yrs of the Club pandering to them at the 2 suburban grounds , time to get into the main game and play with the big boys!

I'd love to see the main grandstand pulled down and rebuilt.

If from politicians to sports administrators are serious about this approach ... the main grand stand needs to be demolished then made larger , the hill area has to disappear and a full large grand stand built on that area , the Northern end to be made into a non roofed elevated seating area .. the old grandstand stays as a heritage structure as what is at the SCG , now you have a ground our club could call home .The state Government could donate a slice of the hospital grounds at Rozelle for huge multi storey car park .
I am just over the crap that spews out of Politicians like Bynes who in reality is just a light weight !
This type of development could be a huge win for the inner west , larger sporting events ,cultural events , entertainment events all bringing money and jobs into the inner west area .
Reality is there is no one that wants to do anything , other than a new paint job and a few extra seats and a couple of corporate boxes ! Which equates to zero for the club wanting to make the ground our home ground
!

Leichhardt is the HILL.

Give Leichhardt a facelift but don't you dare touch one blade of grass on that hill!!!

I wouldnt jump to any conclusions about what I get or dont get.

I do get that the club gets paid to play out of Homebush or Bankwest but in your point you are making the assumption that taking those 6 games from Leichhardt & campbo that they will make more money and you are also making the assumption that the club is merely pandering.

Every commercial decision has a break even point. These games are always against our lowest drawing opposition and it is entirely possible (probable) that the low crowds for these games dip below the break even point at the stadiums and it may be in both the Stadium and Tigers interest not to play these games at the Stadiums. The club has tried a number of permutations over the years and IMO this is the likely situation.

New seats all around the Ground and update Corp area is Darcy's vision..

Its a low cost, low impact option. Its not going to revolutionise anything and wont become Tigers sole home ground (and probably shouldnt), but if the status quo stays (3-4 games a year there), this improves comfort and increases corporate $$$ without massive outlay, I could see it works for all parties. Would also work for Council I would think with other low cost tenants (Soccer etc)
