Never meet Leisel

But from what I saw she seemed a champion person,champion athlete and a fantastic role model to any athlete

I remember when she burst onto the swimming scene as a somewhat brash, young 15 yo (or was it 14?) Doesn't seem all that long ago really. Swimming careers can be so fleeting, but Leisel certainly made the most of it and became a true champion and a great role model for other young swimmers. All the best for the future, Leisel.

A really great career, tarnished by her London campaign. Times, form and fitness were not up to scratch. Whoever managed her progress after trials should be shot

One of my favourite athletes. She's up there with our all time greats. London was a bit of a downer but she was in decline. For a swimmer to have a 12 year career is almost unheard of when you consider Thorpe burst onto the scene at the same age around the same time and yet he retired when he was 23 after two Olympics.
