Lets take the tiger with us

If the Tiger stays then I want the leagues clubs and juniors changed to Wests Tigers as well and get rid of this 2 club crap all together. If the Magpie comes back then I will have a new team - whoever is playing the magpies. Same goes if they leave the inner west and move to cambelltown

I love and support the Wests Tigers. I used to support Balmain but have no connection with the suburb, however I hated the magpies as I did any other club (perhaps more to be honest) and if they brought it back then I will leave.

Plus for all those who talk about Wests Ashfield running the club and supposedly bringing the magpie back -Wests Ashfield doesen't care for the footy team - have you tried to watch the tigers thier on a Sunday - we did last weekend the sound was turned off because the raffle was on instead. Money matters not the footy team and the Tigers brand is worth more then the magpie

What i have always admired about this forum is the respect for others opinions. Regardless my moronic post stands. There are many balmain fans that have embraced the WT and given their heart and soul but recent developments have opened an old wound,

But why take it out on everyone else? surprise surprise you said you'd been a Balmain fan 25 yrs. Can only imagine if the shoe was on the other foot and this was posted by a Magpie.

You still haven't provided a lick of evidence about the Chairman wanting to bring the Magpies back. Sounds like to me you're suffering from paranoid delusions.

Said it many times.. Wests Tigers identity is here to stay. If WT ever folds (unlikely), the licence reverts back to ARLC. Unlike Northern Eagles reverting back to Manly where there was a pre written clause to do so.

As for Balmain's stake in WT there will be little or no influence or contribution except for the legacy of the Tigers brand and colours. LO games may also be a fate of the demise.

WT will not be reverting back to Western Suburbs Magpies, so there is no need for paranoia.

The failure of Balmain leagues club is still a sad turn of events for WT and a financial concern for WT.

Unless a mystery russell crowe or tinkler comes along, WT will more than likely be owned 50/50 in the immediate future by Wests Ashfield and the ARLC.

The status of BDRLFC is also very unclear… who currently own that 50%

I've only been a Wests Tigers Fan for 10 years, so i've only known the Wests TIGERS. If Balmain went under and the Wests Tigers kept the Tiger name i would still continue my strong support as if nothing had changed. However if they were to bring it back to the magpie i would be extremely disappointed and it would feel as if i was supporting an entirely different team and would probably find it hard to continue my support. Am i wrong in thinking this and feeling this way?

I totally understand, i was a balmain supporter for 25yrs leading into the JV and have followed the team interstate, overseas and even have the tattoo. However no matter what what is said about me by others on this forum about my feelings the fact is that the tigers without the balmain link is the end for me and us such i would like the tiger buried with balmain like the bear and norths and the jets with newtown!!!! If that makes me an idiot than guilty as charged!!

Mate, I supported the Balmain Tigers since 1967! If they go down, they go down, but the Wests Tigers will remain. Two different entities, my friend. It will be a sad day for us old Balmain supporters if they do fold, but I am now a Wests Tigers supporter and will be for ever!

let's just wait and see what occurs over the next week, in relation to receivers being called in.

I am of the opinion, that the NRL, will not let history repeat itself.
eg. the failed northern eagles, manly/norths merger which still hits a raw nerve, with many.

yes I am fully aware it's survival of the fittest and show me the money to survive in business, and emotion and sentiment does not pay the bills.

but I honestly believe that the NRL does not want to see another foundation club or logo icon dissolve, otherwise why would have they stepped in to help wests-tigers get their house in order.

As unpopular and politically incorrect as it sounds i firmly believe that if Balmain die they should take the tiger with them. When Wests and Balmain came together Balmain bought the tiger brand and Wests the name. All the Wests die hards have been sweating on a chance to take over and bring back the magpie. Well as sad as it is, the wish may be granted so i say that the NRL and Wests Magpies should get on with it.

What a horrible thing to say especially at this time when the future of Balmain is being debated by the brokers that could end the partnership with the stroke of a pen. I have supported Balmain and Wests Tigers for nearly 60 years and have loved every minute of it and I will continue to support them no matter what the near future holds. Please show a bit of compassion for those of us who are really hurting at the present time before you put your own feelings before our great club.

I use to be a magpie supporter, and I wanted the magpies to come back still after a few years after the JV but I moved on, now I support the Wests tigers and there is no way that they would revert back to the magpies as the Wests tigers logo and name is a very popular brand and after all the work they have done the past couple of years like the new board, Wests tigers NSW cup side new CEO and so on, the magpies side might take on the whole club but they will keep the Wests tigers name
