Believe in reincarnation . Before I get squashed I have no theory for it Just find it strange sometimes when you met someone you don't know from a bar of soap and you think you've met them before and you get on like a house on fire or maybe dislike them for whatever reason straight away .

Same … I also hope that some people who have gone too soon, or that I loved very much will be waiting for me when I kick it.

I believe there is life in the memory you leave behind with others, unfortunately I think that's about as far as it goes.

I can see this topic being merged with the God thread. Anyway my answer is YES. My theory is when our physical bodies die all of our souls go back to the higher dimension (which goes by different names - the spirit world/heaven/home) which is where we all originate from, and then eventually we come back to earth or another place like earth for the purpose of experiencing new things and accomplishing things that we want to. Some people that have a near-death experience often say they see a tunnel. Maybe that is how souls travel between the dimensions. Maybe the tunnels don't all look the same. I don't really believe in hell but in the bible it talks about hell as "chains of darkness". Maybe we make our own hell. I guess if you sepearate yourself from God you are living in "darkness". The word "chains" makes you think of being trapped in a prison. Some people would say being stuck on a large rock (earth) flying around a big ball of fire (the sun) is like being trapped in a prison. I guess most people that have a religion wouldn't agree with alot of what I am saying but they might agree with bits of it.

Yeah that would be nice to know that you havent seen them for the last time.

IMO you only live once and there is no life after death.
BTW belief in post-death paradise fuels the desire of Islamic jihadists to kill themselves (and assorted foes and friends) in the name of their religion.

It would be nice I guess, depending on what exactly it means where you go etc, but there's no evidence of it.

I can see where Happy is coming from in regards to reincarnation, I have a strange affinity for Chinese and Japanese culture, food etc. I can't exactly explain it except for probably being influenced by my parents taking me to Chinese restaurants as a kid.

In saying that, the skeptic in me has an initial question….

What is supposed to live on after you die?

I live my life by the old saying "You're here for a good time, not a long time"

I fimly believe you only get one crack at it. So make it a good one. I do understand that people need to comfort themselves in hoping there is something else after death just for their own fear of mortality, but really i think there is nothing to it.

I like CB's reply, i do think the only way we live on is in other peoples memories, so in a sense part of us does go on, but in regards to a soul continuing on after death….meh

I think when your time comes it will be just like sleep, when you go to sleep at night and then wake up in the morning...that nothingness inbetween i think will be like the state of death....its just gone your consciousness, you wont even know it.........nothing.

Without being offensive to our Muslim Tigers fans the reason why there are no Australian suicide bombers is that they can't find 50 Virgins!.

Yes i believe in it but i just dont have an opinion on exactly what that life is.

Some strange things happen after people die and ive heard too many things for me to not believe it.

A young guy i know was killed and his girlfriend lit a candle in her room as she layed down. The candle blew out, she got up, left the room and when she returnd it was burning again.

When my cousin died, he wasnt found for 2 days and in that time, my aunty was walking around a shopping centre and heard him yell "mum"….she stopped and looked around for him the voice was so clear.

He died at home and due to being there a few days, there was a strong smell....the night before his funeral my mum and dad were laying in bed and my mum said "id rather him here and miserable than up there and happy", and just after she said this a strong smell came over the room, so strong that they had to get up and check what it was......dad cleaned his unit out and swears it was the exact smell from when they found him. They have no doubt he was in the room with them.

Another cousin of mine, a young girl, never met our grandfather. She was just two years old and hadnt been told anything about him when she saw a photo of him at someones place and said "this man comes in my dreams".

Theres other things too, but these are the type of things that make me believe you dont just disappear.

Yes some things can't be explained Sirro When I was young our next door neighbour and close friend got diagnosed with cancer (terminal) . When my Dad remarried she was at the wedding and said she would be out of here wheelchair in 6 weeks She died 6 weeks to the day later . Thats not the weird bit though . About 6 months later the husband and his two sons took a job in Korea . After they moved dad started seeing something outside my door at night . Their son would always come over and we had bunk beds He would always sleep in the top . Dad thought he knew what it was and said one night when he saw the thing they have moved to Korea out loud . He never saw the thing outside the door again .
