Benji volunteered for the job. If anyone ever took on a role with eyes open, it's Benji. There’s no shame in conceding, and I think that’s what Benji needs to do. It isn’t his fault he was plunged into this mess. He needs to drop back to assistant coach, with an experienced coach coming in to mentor him.
Either that, or clear out most of the current coaching staff and make some very astute signings to build a more solid and experienced team around him.
This is Benjis Biden moment he can claim he is the right person or he could do no worse than concede the truth and seek helpThere’s no shame in conceding, and I think that’s what Benji needs to do. It’s doubtful that better players are banging down our doors, given the track record of the previous better players? The rot is at the top, those who hire and appraise the performances of others. No coach turns this around without better players right through the grades. We were/ are fighting for the wooden spoon against Parramatta and you would be hard pressed to find any coach who if they had the choice between the two rosters would take us over Parramatta.
This roster/ club sets all coaches up to fail hence why the targets were thanks but no thanks.
Brad Arthur would come to us with open arms , any coach would as it’s a gig in the top comp , and Arthur had Parra going way better than any coach we have had over the last 3/5 years , I would be happy playing in a finals game , He would be far better than what we have now and what’s we had before , I would 100% be on the phone to him and ask , do you want the job , and who can you bring from Parra that’s quality , Lane , Campbell Gillard , Talagi , etc ,No coach turns this around without better players right through the grades. That’s right, many had Dragons as spoon favourites.I'm still undecided about Brad Arthur but realistically who else is there, and for those saying no one would improve with this roster, look what flannos done with a team of mongs at St George
He appeared to have an ambition to develop into a head coach, as an assistant. But when Sheens was sacked he was just next up to the plate. I’m not sure exactly what went on behind closed doors, but there must’ve been some delusional encouragement from our administration for him to step into the head coach’s role. It also would’ve benefitted the club financially to not need to pay out Sheens and find another head coach on top of that.Benji volunteered for the job. Honestly, what is the alternative ?We've been patient for 13 years
How many more years of patience?
Pretty true for me too, all I want for Xmas is for my team to be competitive.Honestly, what is the alternative ?
As I’ve said to my brothers, been following the Magpies and Weststigers now for 50 years and only had glimpses of success. Circumstances have led as to follow a club not capable of matching it with the elite of the competition.
So the way I see it I either stop following the sport (can’t do), follow another team (impossible) or stay patient until it turns around (may never happen).
We probably won’t ever be a Man United, but maybe a Man City ? 🥴
Offloading some of the club's dregs.Still trying to work out the point of that trip to England …
Our biggest mistake in recent history (and we’ve had many to choose from) was knocking back Flanagan and going for the nostalgic combo of Sheens & Benji as our coaches two years ago. Flanagan was primed for this role and he was just what this place needed. You only have to look at what he’s done with St George in less than a season. Sure they’re still inconsistent but they are climbing the ladder and are on the verge of the top eight after being an absolute basket case last year. Even the Bulldogs with all their marquee signings haven’t climbed back up as quickly as the Dragons are now. This is all down to Flanagan imo.I'm still undecided about Brad Arthur but realistically who else is there, and for those saying no one would improve with this roster, look what flannos done with a team of mongs at St George
Offloading some of the club's dregs.
And hopefully identifying an experienced coach.
Flip a wise man once told me "never go back over ploughed ground"its the worst thing you can do ....WESTS TIGERS are specialists at it...Our biggest mistake in recent history (and we’ve had many to choose from) was knocking back Flanagan and going for the nostalgic combo of Sheens & Benji as our coaches two years ago. Whilst our fellow strugglers from recent seasons are on the rise, our mob are still floundering around like turtles on their backs, legs in the air on the bottom of the table, yet again! The nostalgic choices and penchant to look back this club regularly does has kept us standing still, firmly entrenched at the bottom. We had the perfect opportunity to give the spoon over to Parramatta in recent weeks and all we’ve done is gravitate even closer towards it, letting the Eels off the hook. You cannot possibly go forward while ever you keep looking backwards.
Amen brother!Flip a wise man once told me "never go back over ploughed ground"its the worst thing you can do ....WESTS TIGERS are specialists at it...
Bring back Sheens after he was sacked and sued the joint, keep Brooks on at half when he is a running 5/8,put Benji in as HC with no NRL coaching experience and they constantly live in the past,Morris,Hieghno,Robbie on the coaching staff...
My message for Richo......CLEAN THE JOINT OUT AND START GETTING PROFESSIONAL...THE NRL IS THE TOUGHEST COMP IN THE WORLD....START ACTING LIKE IT AND GET FRESH FACES IN THE JOINT...
There’s no one, including Arthur. Just signed to coach the Leeds Rhinos.I'm still undecided about Brad Arthur but realistically who else is there, and for those saying no one would improve with this roster, look what flannos done with a team of mongs at St George
