Hodgo is another that Laurie could learn a lot from. Hodgo was smaller but stood like a mountain with his ticker. You can't teach that, you either have it or you don't.

Crook to lose after all the off season prep.
But it's Round 1.
7 other teams also lost.
We really had new players, new combos, some didn't trial, it's very much a new team.
Not really wrist-slitting time just yet.
PS I saw the KOA reserve grade team - they looked fantastic in the 2nd half - that young fullback is special.

Probably means I'm just wrong! I'm cool with that.

Could also mean a lot of other fullbacks get the ball more on attacking plays, didn't field as many 5th tackle kicks, got them with less space to the defence....

Seriously, you'd have to watch every full back in every game to compare how metres were gained.

I'd better go to work tomorrow though, so I'll just say fair enough and say there's a good chance I'm wrong.

He did score a great fullback's try, so I'll give him that.

But I'm obviously not a fan....

I said this before the game that any smart kicker would be kicking to Noffa's corner. Once you tackle him, you're left with Staines/ Laurie doing a hit-up. Noffa is a strong carrier but doesn't have a quick PTB. Laurie/Staines will get killed every time.

Not arguing, but I don't remember many other than the kick returns where he really has no choice.

na mate sorry I didn’t mean to sound like I was being rude or anything. You’re not wrong at all for ur opinion and assessments. I was just glancing over stats from the weekend and noticed and thought I’d share that’s all.
 
I have no way of knowing what Laurie is thinking or feeling. I was simply saying I wasnt ever scared when playing. Just never entered my mind.

Actually, the very last game I ever played was a grand final and I played with a separated rib.

I think I was a bit scared then. But I also think risking getting a punctured lung I deserve a pass on that one and don't recall a time before that.

Maybe Laurie is worried about his leg?

All good, but I do appreciate it. 😊

Stats are hard without knowing how they come about. I mean, a fullback could pick up a loose ball on his own try line and have 6 injured players on the deck, so he strolls 100m for a try.

Then he can hit it up another 10 times for 4m each and end up with an average of around 13m for the game (140/11?).

I remember Woods used to make about half his pcms running backwards! 🤣
