I lm sorry man I don’t know. I’m just fed up.
it’s just so hard to be positive when the team plays like such utter crap for so many years and the club can never recruit any talent whatsoever.
I feel so over it. I was telling my wife today during the game I really don’t know what compels me to watch every week and give so much energy when most weeks it just ends in sh!t. In this case, even though we won.

Don't think too hard on it or you might realise that all spectator sport is ultimately pointless. You don't get anything tangible for a win or a loss, it's 100% emotional and cultural gambling. That's how I get by. Like the kid says in the Matrix, "there is no spoon".

Exactly.
Even if you win the comp. it all starts over again in a few months so what's the point?
It's best not to ponder on it.

Damn this took an existential turn. Kierkegaard lives!

I know right? Nihilism deluxe in the last couple of dozen posts lol.

Not nihilism for me. It's the understanding that sport is an emotional gamble, so with all gambles there's a very real chance that you lose.

Siro said he doesn't know what compels him to watch every week and give so much energy. I know what compels me - I love the Tigers, I always have. Very good chance I always will. Humans are a tribal and communal species. Love of sport is common.

So I accept the weekly gamble - highs or lows every week. There aren't so many things in life that can provide those emotional touch points. No different to watching the Olympics and getting greedy for gold, from people you may not have even heard of a few weeks ago.

My advice was therefore don't think too hard about the why, just enjoy sport for the emotional roller coaster that it is. Accept the gamble. Learn to put the disappointment to the side during the week. Be aware of how much you miss rugby league in the offseason.

And if any of those cease to be true, then yeah you could consider giving it up.

What is going on with our marker defence?? Why is it taking so long for our defenders to get up off the ground and either get back to marker or back into the line. Also they often stand back at marker in the middle of nowhere, I’m surprised they aren’t getting pinged more often. There is no urgency by our defenders to get up or to turn around.
We need to be more aggressive in the tackle and in the contest on the ground. Any team that plays fast will roll straight through our middle.

Lazy by habit and not prepared to make the extra effort for their team mates.

Mikaele was average again today. Dogs first try came through him switching off and turning his back in defence.

Mikaele can run hard in attack and bend the line. The problem is he has hands like feet and can be lazy in defence - something you can't be at lock.

Frankly I'm not sure whether we should persist with him which is probably saying he hasn't done enough.

There is a good player in there. Question is when will the light bulb turn on? He will be an asset when the penny drops for him.

It looks like the Dogs fans that were commenting so frequently about their club signing rumours on this forum, are somehow absent today for some reason!

Next year they’re adding Vaughan, JAC, TPJ and Burton. We’re adding 2 ESL players.

Somehow, I don't see those players working out so well for the dogs. Rest of their team is garbage & they're also losing Meaney to da storms.
Much the same from us next yr as well. Gonna be a loooooong one...

We were after all 4 of those players so we must have thought highly of them.

Tigers were never linked with Burton? We weren't after Vaughan either, the player himself said Madge rang him up to see where he was up to.

What does that mean see where he was up to . Why ring him if you’re not interested or are they best buddy’s

May have rung him to see his headspace. Hard to know with a player who has just been suspended and had his contract torn up, dragged through the media.

If I inspect a house, does it mean I want to buy that house, or does it just mean I'm generally in the house market and checking out my options?

So he was interested in a player just not him

@watersider Respectfully disagree re the strength of our squad but I love your reasoning and your faith in our guys. Hope it is repaid 10 fold! 😊

I've got very little faith in the squad! I just think we've got more promising younger players and more flexibility than the Dogs...and they're the worst team in the league. A few more quality players and I think we'd be competing for a top 8 spot. B we're still heaps off the top teams.
