*Live Game Thread* Round 18 VS Penrith

It was a shambles of a game but Penrith were better. They say it was a reserve grade team but JFH, Kikau and Edwards are stars and they led them to victory.

Congrats to JFH winning on his 150th, he was excellent and scored the winner.

I'm disappointed we lost but can see the improvements in our effort.

A few positives:

- Adam Doueihi apart from some nothing kicks, showed why he's the best 6. Easily the most dangerous with ball in hand.
- Starford To'a had a couple of nice plays towards the end of the game. The line break he made which gave us a 6 again was good alongside his effort to chase and get the ball back off of Doueihi's chip. Seems to go missing a lot though
-Tamou and Hastings were combining nicely at times and if they're going to keep Brooks at 7, Hastings at 13 might work.
-Joffa had a top game. Extend him.
-Pole showed again he's a first grader without being outstanding.
- Kepaoa is definitely best choice for centre

Negatives:
- Butter-fingers handling, poor passing.

- Far too many missed tackles especially in the middle.

- Couldn't make the metres up the middle and play down their end enough.

- Our kick chase was poor for most of the match.

- 5th tackle options (when we could get to them) were too often poor..

- Too often the line speed is too slow.

- Our last set to win from 2 points behind and we're taking one out runs. Where was the captaincy?

- Matamua's inexperience is understandable but he came up with infringements at critical times Specifically, an obstruction and when he was called not square at marker on the set that led to the JFH try. It's good we're developing our younger players but if we keep him in 1sts we'll probably see more of this.

- Brooks and his kicking game again leave a lot to be desired. I havent called for him to be dropped before, but it's time, even if it's just for a single match. We need to see how they go without Brooks. Trouble is, the replacements are Hastings or Madden.

- At times we were concerningly slow with regards to line speed. Especially on the Tago try.
- Dummy half options are poor. Brown and Simpkin are average at best and Liddle needs a new club. Koriasau can't arrive soon enough.

Thanks for the summary. I went fishing and couldn't watch the match; sounds like I didn't miss anything I haven't seen before. The only saving grace about not seeing it is I didn't drink much.

The problem I have is not just that we lost a close one with just 1 conversion in it but last year same circumstances we beat them easily and then they had Burton as well . But we lose to them minus 7 of their stars but what really worries me is Penrith played poorly they had many errors and missed tackles
So a team missing 7 stars and playing poorly beat us !!

Yep. We should won by 16 or 18

Don't like the post?
It just seemed more like a "beach appreciation" post rather than a worthwhile contribution to a thread about a match you didn't watch, and don't plan on watching.

It would be like me logging into a Marvel Films fanpage and telling them about how I went on a bicycle ride with my Dad, and had a great time, rather than watch the new Dr Strange movie, because all Marvel movies are ultimately repetitive crud.

I didn't know you'd been appointed to a forum editorial role. My comments were relevant to the forum, your comments are vacuous.

Haha that would be a fair point though.
Those movies stink.
