Yeah though Brooks waas doing well to settle it down late in 2ndchalf but then Reynolds kept trying to undo all his good 1st half work. Never seen anything dumber then the kick on the 3rd after having no ball but JR did set up a couple of tries in 1st half so up and down. One try by intercept and one 1 late prob made the cowboys score look better then it was and injuries killed us - remebering that Sam Mc was the only bench player in 2nd half and Musgrove got injured just 4 mins into his 22nd stint throwing out the rotation completely

I must admit I was far from happy with the result last night but I was unable to watch it. However after watching it this morning and looking at the stats I’ve calmed down somewhat . 53% possession and 8-4 penalty count to cowboys plus the injuries I’m prepared to give it a pass mark. Taumololo 259 metres he’s a machine that bloke how good it would be to have one of those in our side.

Reynolds the new king of kicking on the third. Brain dead.

but but but but........."energy"...."***ENERGY!!!*** .

One of the dumbest footballers Ive seen and should not be in a playmaking position. Part time dummy half(pick up and pass) is his only value to this team IMO.

Agreed. He dropped the ball dead of the kick off in the first few minutes after our first try. That kick and also racing off the line in defence leaving the remainder of the right side defence way back. You expect better from an $800k player.

I dont unfortunately, and Ive been saying this since day 1. Many here are enamoured by his "great guy" persona (also not genuine) and his energy, "buzz" and niggle...but I just picture Maguire sitting REynolds down to explain the game plan to him and REynolds staring at him wide eyed going "yep...yep.....yep" and going out there like an 18month old puppy and racing out of the line, kicking early and doing whatever the hell he wants because he learnt that "energy" and buzz gets you picked in SOO.

What I wouldn't give to be able to keep the Grant/ Brooks combo. Grant is a footy player through and through and it must be great for Brooks to have him there knowing that he not only gets the attack on the front foot but also defends like a demon.

Seriously ? Benji can’t tackle . Has never been able to tackle that effectively . Defence wins games . We have shown we can score points with or without benji. It’s especially worse now because benji clearly has lost that lateral mobility. It happens! I feel like josh was looking to shift momentum with those kicks . I get it. But sometimes you need to grind the momentum back. He clearly saw an opening that closed as quickly as it opened.
Energy is hugely important . Especially when things are going against you. A charge down , a tackle one on one in goal , a huge hit , a forced mistake . These things are unquantifiable.
I was one to scratch my head as to whether those kicks should have happened, but I dunno . I’d rather an engaged half than not. Look at the broncos halves or the sharks . Even the bulldogs . They would all scream for a bit of energy right now .

I didnt realise the cows had Kikau and Brandon Smith in the 20s a few years ago and lost them. Big losses when you ad Ponga.

It’s a hard choice between Reynolds and Benji. Both have their positives and negatives but if Madge keeps the focus on defence I feel Reynolds will keep getting the nod

Marshall can tackle when he puts his body in front just as well as a lot of halves..the problem is now at 35 he seems a little apprehensive to do that at times ..I think that is the issue..

There are only 4 halves in the comp that I would consider great defenders ..DCE, Munster, Williams and Luke Brooks the one trait they all have is they put their bodies in front of whoever is coming at them 110kg+ monsters no problem..the rest not so much..

Yep . But Jrey makes up for it with energy . And it looks like Madge feels the spark is more needed than the steadiness .
Someone said benji should ride the pine till the last 20 , then come on and steady the ship.
I really like this idea . I’m not sure how you would be able to maximise the bench to include him , but this may be the option moving forward.

Dylan Brown's missed tackle on Morris in the first Rooster try was awful. Gutherson had a decent opportunity to put him over the sideline as well. Munster would have made the tackle as would have Thurston in his day. I wonder if Mitch gave them a mouthful and ran through with them how the tackles should have been made.

Mate, there's people in here that would hate Reynolds if he scored 50 points per game. The bloke set up most of our tries and gets that right side flying. We're beating a side by 34 points and people are bagging him. What about Twal giving away repeat sets on 5th tackle for leg pulling when the ref is screaming in his ear. His racing up out of the line didn't cost us one point and in fact unsettled the Cowboys attack. Madge's focus is defence, do they think he would cop Reynolds doing that if he wasn't happy with it? Give the bloke a break. The two games he's started we were unlucky against the probable grand finalists and we get out to a 30 point lead before injuries took out our two best forwards. Yeah, bring Benji back.

Add Pearce to the list.

I'm super happy with that performance. We won by 16. Any other time we'd be jumping up and down, but for some reason it's not good enough. Just enjoy the win you blokes.

Let's face reality, the Cowboys are not performing and Green has the face of a coach knowing his tenure is up. Reynolds dropped the ball from the kick off after the first try and I believe Musgrove dropped the ball on the first tackle coming off our line. Until such time as we cut out these unforced errors, we will struggle. Reynolds mistake made us make three defensive sets on our line. For an $800k player, he had better lift his performance.

Benji and Reynolds both offer something to the team but they are also erratic and have mistakes in their game. I don't think either are great defenders and so I am glad the coach has demonstrated that both are vulnerable when it comes to holding their place in the team.

Never seen anything dumber then the kick on the 3rd after having no ball

Yes dumb, I wish I could say Benji doesn't do the same thing.

***You expect better from an $800k player***.

That was so funny to me, as I detest the Eels. After watching Waqa Blake having an absolute blinder against his former club last week, then get schooled by Morris, Keary and Tupou made my night. Also seeing Slimy Fart getting fobbed off.

In fact it was a good match all-around, watching that twerp Flanagan being cross-palmed by Jennings (using his left-arm to fend across his chest to a defender on his right, which literally is a man's weakest strike) and then Sivo bulldoze Tedesco in a single play. Literally I watched that Sivo run 20 times, letting Fox show their 5 replays then going back to the start of the sequence 3 more times.
