He said the time & challenge were correct, but in review, it wasn't a penalty.

Excellent. So, we still don't get the win because of the bunkers incorrect decision.
 
The captain's challenge and the bunker are in place to make things fairer - how's that working after the debacle yesterday?? Both should be immediately abolished. Bloody disgrace.
 
Being a professional sport with gambling attached, with all circumstances considered the result should be reversed.
A lot of noise saying there something very smelly about the NRL recently.

That would require the NRL being strong and professional. They don't have the courage.
 
Question asked to annesly about a similar situation where there was a stoppage in a parra titans game and one of the captains wasn’t allowed a challenge - and he’s just changed everything he said previously
 
Okay I just watched that entire press conference by Annesley. Take aways:
1. They are making up the rule of the ability to make a captains challenge after full time on the fly. This is evident because he can’t explain where the restart of play was to occur without the penalty.

2. Can of worms has been opened where the last play is challengable provided you make up any reason to want to challenge. Raiders weren’t allowed to challenge the other week when the marker wasn’t square. Weird.

3. Saying something is not in black and white but is a rule is just complete wrong.

4. They admit the decision was wrong but don’t apologise because you can’t apologies because it was just a mistake. I’m sorry that is why you apologise because you made a mistake not because you did the wrong thing on purpose. (That’s just parenting 101).

5. Not enough pressure was put on Klein to be stood down for longer than a week. The error is not defendable although he tried.

Annesley did his best to stand up for his employees but he has just opened a Pandora’s box for the challenge system.

Yep he tried to say oh no this only applies to the last play and when questioned on it said it’s not different to any other time in the game. They are trying to say the challenge of as allowed to stop the Tigers having a legal response. You can’t legal challenge a human error

For the record, I heard direct from Bill many years later that he put his arm out the wrong way for that penalty - he meant to award a penalty to the Tigers. Instead of correcting himself, he went through with the incorrect call.

I just watched Annesley's conference. It makes me sad but I cannot in good conscience support a corrupt league. Annesley point blanc has made up a new rule on the spot and is standing by it. It's not in the rulebook it literally cannot be challenged. And if it is allowed to be challenged suddenly there are different rules for the final tackle of the game? Where is the consistency in that?

Its a shame knowing the tigers are building to it's most promising era in the next few years but I can't support it if this is where this saga ends.
 
Isn't a rule supposed to be black and white ? How can Annesley and NRL now claim rules are about intent and not the rule itself ?

Otherwise we have a game based in interpretations, not rules.

Klein also ref that allowed finucane wild hit on crighton that left him bleeding from the head and also same ref who recommended 10 in the bin for Maumalo when he braced for impact with shoulder .maybe a penalty but it was a brace still shoulder so no force . Category is more serious when you hit someone with force . It's called a shoulder CHARGE .In this case there was no charge and hence no force
Klein said finucane fine but Maumalo send off field for 10 mins
I think different rule if you a bottom team especially Klein
Klein must be dropped for rest of year or NRL is without integrity and are running a rigged game
 
It also need to be pointed out the Annesley said “who’s to say if a penalty wasn’t given that I wouldn’t be here because the cowboys complained?”
Well;
1. Their coach admitted it was a lucky call
2. Everyone is rugby league par a handful of outliners believe it was the wrong call.

This argument is embarrassing from Annesley
 
When I suggested a “ public beating” I meant media wise.

It was otherwise fun, sarcasm and entertainment and I abhor all kinds of violence.

I unreservedly and sincerely apologise to all if my utterance caused any offence.
