**Live game thread* WT vs Eels

I felt that the only way we were going to beat the Eels was the do the 1%ers. At the end of the game the stats were either in our favour or close to being on par with Parra. We had more ball in the attacking zone to work with and we nearly got away with the win.
The errors that we did make were critical ones which resulted in them scoring.
Once again we switched off and let them back into the game.
Pole was impressive for a freshman and not many people have noted Garners effort. He made a lot of tackles and was all over the park.
Our pack just needs to be topped up with some quality backrowers to replace those reparting.

Agree Cobar - It also felt like we gave them a penalty to march them upfeild
every other set.... Frustrating

Matamua not even charged yet it was serious enough for a sin bin which changed the game . The tackle wasn't high , wasn't late and didn't stop a likely try and wasn't a result of multiple breaches and wasn't a professional foul
What it was it was against Moses who spends the whole game in ref's ear
Again Annessley will not even bring it up because in his view right or wrong it was against the tigers and to him we don't matter
Last week he spent ages answering robbos complaints

And Parra scored 2 tries in that 10 mins - huge difference in the game.
As was said before, Brandon Smith was right.

Meh - will take this over the 50+ it coulda/shoulda been.

Para's team is much, much better than ours.

Pole is a great positive from tonight. Matta also strong.
These two boys should be picked every week for the rest of the year. Matta might have been nicked for clobbering Moses but it was still good to see!

I love how people think bringing AD in to 6 will magically make us start winning 😆
Except no one has said that at all nor do they believe it. Brooks is not this teams only problem but he has been the longest running one.

What people have said is that they are tired of seeing Brooks dish out the same garbage on a weekly basis for years and want to see someone else given the reigns.

So what's the difference

Use the backline and draw and pass .We scored 2 tries in 4 mins last night by doing just that .Sounds simple but if you check the tapes previous 3 matches it just didn't happen nofo didn't get a single pass and similar other side of field . We have some good finishers so use the backline and draw and pass
don't just crab across the field and run everyone out of room .Brooks did run draw and pass but took 70+ minutes and his kicking game as usual ordinary
Duoehi at least put up a couple of very high spiral bombs

The team tried hard but we were outclassed. There is a lot to like about our performance and some of the individual efforts were great.

Pole fulfilled the promise he demonstrated a couple of years ago down at Corrimal when he turned the momentum (and outcome) of the game with his strong running and defence. Matamua had a bright start despite his sin binnning I hope Tumeth, O'Kane and Boyling are given opportunities.

I don't agree on Brooks, sure some of his options were poor but again it was Brooks we went to when we needed tries and he delivered. His long kicking game was very good as it was the previous week.

Hastings has always been v/slow, the difference is the opposition are on to him. He offers zero in attack and his partner in the halves then feels the pressure to create. I wrote about it a couple of times last week. His first up contact is so poor and the ball runner runs another 5 to 10m before he is stopped.

Douehi was appalling last night. He missed the tackle badly which lead to a try. If what was reported on here occurred Sheens needs to take him aside and read him the riot act. Like Hastings, his first up contact is very poor, allowing the ball runner additional metres.
No, Brooks only had to catch and pass for the tries. His kicking game was appalling. Long and short, he was terrible and had been getting worse for years. His confidence on a scale of 1-10 is currently at a -5. Any time that he pulls on the jersey again is an insult to the members of the club. He's a complete failure and he's not the answer to any of our issues. I don't think Hastings is either. Doueihi still has question marks.

If we have the opportunity to sign any been quality halves it 5/8s we have to snap it up. None of them deserve to have contracts talks reopened at this stage

Watch the two Nofoaluma tries again, Brooks ran and ran quickly, to get on the outside something Doueihi and Hastings are incapable of doing. I am happy to leave it to the incoming coach to make a decision, noting Andrew Johns said he watched Brooks very closely and noted how well he competed against a good team.

I love how you and others cant accept that having Brooks at 7 and now at 6 is going to magically make us start winning....AD and Hastings must be given the opportunity to play a few games together,we certainly gave Brooks coaches, players and club icons to play with and yet we havent played finals football in 12 years...now thats magical...

There are only a few of our players that are quality and the rest are not.
We should not continually bash our players because they are all influenced by each others lack of abilities. It's like flogging a dead horse....no point!
Our roster is shite.
If we had a full cap to spend, a great destination club, great coach and an abundance of quality players our there to sign, I would only retain a few of our current squad.
The performance against Parra was commendable but we lost.
Why? We don't have quality players to ice the cake, that's why.

So in Johns opinion Luke competed against a good team,ok so does Luke compete against poor teams ? did Johns make comment on the abysmal kick on the second tackle with a man down ? did Johns comment on Luke laying all over the tackled player and giving them a penalty?...did Johns only watch Luke closely and didnt watch the other players like Pole and Matamua ?....Luke played poorly and everyone knows it,so what if he ran quickly and passed to Noffa to score, thats his bloody job....

Johns was a pretty decent half in his time so it is worth listening to what he had to say.
