Looks like heino will be going too

So we haven't exceeded the cap for this year and next year Chris . Even the club has admitted it . We'll see when the fines come out at the end of the season

No denying that they're over the cap but I find it hard to believe that they are cutting players for that reason only. I think it's a combination of them having cap issues and also trying to fit Blair in to strengthen the pack. I could be wrong but I find that more believable than the cap issues alone.

People are missing the point with all this "why keep Fulton?" instead of Heighno.

**Fulton was offered to every club in the NRL….................no one wanted him.**

Thus, we need to let someone else go as we are stuck with Fulton and his contract.

So...**Heighno** is the one being offered **as clubs want him.**

It's nothing to do with preferring Fulton. It's just that we can't get rid of him, whilst we can move Heighno.

As Ink says, this absolutely screams of bad cap mismanagement. We are obviously in a bad position and need to lose contracts.

You let blokes walk when their contract have FINISHED.

You push half the forwards out the door who have existing contracts WHEN YOU HAVE CAP PROBLEMS.

Fifita under contract for 2012

Gibbs under contract for 2012, 2013, 2014

Fulton 2012, 2013

Heighno 2012, 2013

This is not a "it's time to move on fellas". These are blokes management and the coach CHOSE to give long contracts to. Anyone buying the sudden "oh, now Tim doesn't want them" line should is mentally asleep.

There's obviously problems. Even if Blair is coming for $500 k, we are trying to clear over a million.

If Blair somehow gets out of his deal, we are going to look like a joke.

yeah it just doesn't add up, something is obviously wrong and it appears to be a stuff up by management

I'll be gutted if heighno goes. He's playing great footy and has passion for the club. I'm no insider, just a big fan. I can't understand why the club would be considering this. What's going on?

Unless we are paying massive overs to every player ( knowing our management, it could be the case) the amount of space we have freed up for next year we must have some other big name player coming as well as Blair.

Blair even if on $500 k a year, I think you will find half will be third party money (we have a lot of that especially since we got our new main sponser, just like the Broncos, it is the way to cheat the cap) and Balir will be in the cap at about $250 k - $300K.

For mine with the amount of players going their simply must be at least another big name signing to come as well as Blair.

I have faith that the current crop of juniors is very good but you do need some experienced players as well.

I tip we will make the 8 next year and win in 2013.

So it comes back to what I said firstly Chris Do you want to keep Rhino and replace him with Blair and still keep Dwyer as a starter . Rhino is a far better player than Dwyer is and ever will be .

Help me understand something, our forward pack struggles to dominate other forward packs and the fans blow up about it. Tim is in the process of revamping our forwards so they can compete with the bigger packs. He has his eye on the 2nd best forward in the comp and lets Fifita and Gibbs go. Now Heighno is being talked about being let go as well. The fans are now blowing up. If we dont let Gibbs and Fifita go, then who? Obviously fans have not been happy with our forwards since 2006 so evidently changes have to be made according to the fans. If Blair signed with another club because we kept our forwards that the fans aren't happy with then the fans blow up for not trying to sign Blair.

No wonder Tim doesn't give a rats what the fans think. If I were in his shoes I wouldnt either. He's in a lose/lose situation no matter which way he goes!

I thinks its pretty simple Chris. Ok he's looking at a bigger pack, but Gibbs is the best defensive front rower in the comp, will we improve with him gone? Maybe his injnuries have played a role in the decision and if thats the case well ok, we'll cop that one on the chin. Now Fifita was the next to go, i'd say letting Dwyer go would have been a better option. Now if Heighno goes, the man who makes more metres than anyone else, and who is in as good as form as 2007 (i think that was his big year), and fulton stays, how does that improve our size and strength? How does it make us a better pack?

The 3 guys who are on the outer are not the reasons why we get dominated sometimes.

I wouldn't be benching Heighno next season. If Sheens is going to try and run a larger forward pack, bring BMM on for Heighno from the bench. The Tigers must surely be looking to buy someone other than Blair unless they're prepared to roll the dice with Begovich, BMM, Woods and Groat…which is a big gamble IMO.

And if Sheens is looking to bench Heighno, then it doesn't look good for Fulton's getting a run in FG next season.

Take out Fulton,& weve got one of the biggest packs in the comp…Gibbs,Fafita, galloway, payten,Ellis,Dwyer,BMM,Woods are all well over 100kgs and then some.
For comparison ,gallon is "only"104 kgs,& look at his impact.
But for some reason, with the exception of one or two of them(ok,Ellis & galloway),theyre soft & get smashed by just about every opposition pack.Is it just that they lack mongrel & toughness,or are they coached that way,or are they coasting..I really dont know.
And the coach who is allegedly looking for a bigger pack insists on selecting 80 something kg Fulton in every team...?
I actually think theres been such a stuff-up on the salary cap mismanagement(unforgivable-if any doubt we shld have clarified upfront),plus upgrading of juniors plus back end loading of contracts ,that we'll offload whatever the external market has demand for...& that includes some of our better players

Whilst I'd like to see heigno stay, it's pretty clear sheens knows he can't win a premiership with our forward pack. Surely they have their eyes on another forward other than Blair with the amount of forwards we're letting go?

im not sure why some of you are bagging out fulton. he would be good as our utility player on our interchange. he would be a much better choice than choosing a bloody winger on the interchange!

Let three of our biggest guys go and keep Fulton. Nice one.

That's not a fair criticism. They are trying to get rid of him but no one wants him.

Heighno should remain. I reckon that is a real bad call but I bet other teams will want him.

"He's in the mix - but we're looking to be bigger and stronger. Recruitment and some of the kids coming through, we're looking at those things. We've been bullied by bigger, stronger sides at times."

Yet you persist week in and week out to play the same small defensive liabilities in your team.
Let me tell you something Mr. 48%, the one's being asked to leave are not the ones costing you matches. Gibbs, Heighington and Fifita are the same weight and size of their opposing numbers.
And what?? You've only JUST figured out that our team gets bullied by bigger and stronger sides?? Funny that…. Everyone on here pretty much knew that already and ever since 2006 when your mobile pack was getting belted from pillar to post after jagging the title.

You start a cleanout by removing defensive liabilities out of your squad not because a player is 2cms shorter than his opposition.
But if you didn't play favourites every week and dropped under-performing players when it needs doing, you wouldn't need to be giving your so-called "honest answers".

I would even doubt very much the Dragons pack from last year is much bigger or stronger than the Tigers pack from last year. They won the premiership...

POST OF THE YEAR THUS FAR :master:

Agree wholeheartedly. The cleanout should've begun with the coach!

Excellant play on words

Think for a moment about who has been or is interested in Heighington - Bennet tried to get him to the Dragons and now it would seem Gould is interested for the Pamfers. They wouldn't have a clue between them would they?

Tell me this is just some bad dream.
