Looks like heino will be going too

I can see where you're coming from but how else do they handle it? When you let players negotiate it creates an air of uncertainty amongst the rest of the playing group and understandably so. I really cant see how else they could have handled it.

The club is being reactive….not pro active. If you manage your cap and dont try to play by your own rules, you can re-write a roster over a few seasons....not the middle of one.

This is all a result of cap mismanagement, disguised as a pack makeover, dont kid yourself.
At the start of the year we were no. 2 premiership favourite.

The line that divides.....I wish they told me when I coughed up my hard earned for my membership that this year would be a write off....they dont get my money any more until those that have stuffed us up are gone

Have a good look chris, the club is not blameless here

I think its well known that a lot of coaches aim for our forward pack (as a weakness) when developing their game plan against WT. Listening to most media commentators over last few years confirm this view.

And they are right …......... WE ARE SOFT. IN MANY CASES OUR FORWARD DO NOT BREAK TACKLES OR HAVE ABILITY TO OFFLOAD OR BUILD A PLATFORM FOR OUR HALF'S AND HOOKER TO OPERATE WITH SOME COMFORT. WE NEED A MAJOR REVAMP ..... AND WE MAY FINALLY BE GETTING IT.

Tim states clearly and concisely that his plan is to use hieghno as a bench player next year. If heighno leaves it will be his decision and

This kneejerk reaction… midseason, from the club is the wrong way to go about rebuilding a squad, any mug can see that.
Theres a time and place for eveything but mid season when we're in the middle of an injury crisis and just clinging to the eight, yeh the fans really should be happy the clubs finally doing something about it.[/sarcasm]
LMAO!

Can I ask this question ?? For the amount of money we are going to pay for Blair and the money we are probably paying Rhino (Market would be 250 -280 k) I reckon . Are you going to get that much more value \performance from Blair ?? Why do i get this feeling we are paying overs for many of our players and we aren't even going to sign Blair . It just doesn't make sense to me all of this . Anyone feel the same ??

We will not be paying Blair $550k from the salary cap as about 30% os any fee is from 3rd party agreement.

But just a response to previous post ….. Unfortunately that's the nature of the business as determined by NRL rules at present.

Clubs are doing most of their trading and forward planning around this time of the year.

If the players a good enough and professional enough they will step up and (maybe) make the semis this year. And yes in future we may find to regret letting some of the current players go. But all that does not change the fact that we need to be pro active in this .... which is what the Club is currently being. :roll

This club does weird things with all of its contracts . Why would you have both of your best players (Marshall and Farah) coming off contract the same year MMudra I agree we need to change but we are not listening to the mistakes we made in the past . If the figures for Blair are right it is overs like a lot of our players by the sounds of it . Look at many of the successful clubs . They are great at getting the best out of all the talent and their disposal . You can't say the same about us . We need to get some journeymen that you know that do the job week in week out that don't cost a Motza

be a dumb move IMO….......I think the forwards have done alright this year, it's the backs that have let us down for the most part.

I haven't had an issue with Fifita going Gibbs going (his knees are just about buggered) but Heighington , Keefy and Ellis are our 3 best forwards week in week out .
Offer Fulton and Moltzen as a package deal but for Christs sake keep Rhino .
If we are doing this to fit Blair in and fix salary cap and Blair gets a season ending injury round 1 (don't scoff thats about our luck at the moment) we and the club will look like a pack of tools .
My other point is we are loading heaps of pressure on Groat , Begovich,BMM and Woods to step up . Not confident for 2012 at all . 2013 might be a good year though IF these young fellas can step it up to the next level

Let me re-iterate…...

Help me understand something, our forward pack struggles to dominate other forward packs and the fans blow up about it. Tim is in the process of revamping our forwards so they can compete with the bigger packs. He has his eye on the 2nd best forward in the comp and lets Fifita and Gibbs go. Now Heighno is being talked about being let go as well. The fans are now blowing up. If we dont let Gibbs and Fifita go, then who? Obviously fans have not been happy with our forwards since 2006 so evidently changes have to be made according to the fans. If Blair signed with another club because we kept our forwards that the fans aren't happy with then the fans blow up for not trying to sign Blair.

No wonder Tim doesn't give a rats what the fans think. If I were in his shoes I wouldnt either. He's in a lose/lose situation no matter which way he goes!

Must be something wrong with the water in Concord? I can't believe I am reading this… Has to be a gee up????

I sort of agree with Chris… We havnt had a competitive team, so something needs to change. Most clubs go through this, but we seem to be the only club that is doing it through rumours and the newspaper.

Does anyone know what quality forwards are available to remotely justify these actions?

Chris I'm not angry about Fifita or Gibbs . I'm angry that the club knowingly brought the salary cap problems on itself when they were warned by NRL that Gibbs and Farah would not be exempt .
As I have said in a few threads previously this was reasonably common knowledge as I live 2000 k,s away and knew that the club was heading towards cap issues (not realizing how bad though) as well as one of my mates that lives in Brisbane .
Know the club is saying we have to get rid of players to fit under the cap and to get better players . Thats been the issue for a fair while now Why have they been so slow in doing it And then we look like we my have the personnel to finally make a challenge to win the title we purposely shoot ourselves in the foot by tearing the club apart to the core It needed to happen but it should of happened 4 years ago .
What is it with the upper management of this club ???

I'm on both sides of the fence here tbh. I've been vocal about the necessity and reality of letting these guys go, but am now coming around to the fact that we could of handled the situation better and not in one big hit like we are seeing at the moment.

Anyway, regarding THIS article…if you read it correctly and not let emotion get in the way of your head, only the first two paragraphs touch on Heighinton. Sheens simply said Heighinton was told he MAY be forced to play from the bench next year. There are no quotes from Heighinton saying he is looking elsewhere and it stinks of a journalist playing on recent media stories and twisting the facts to sell a paper. I would like to hear a quote from the man himself before I start to make judgment regarding this situation.

"tearing the club apart". I think injuries have done their part in this. Up to 8 or 9 players out at the one time at one stage. We need more mongrel in the pack that is for sure. However, we also need some speedy, young, big backs e.g. Loti and Lawrence.

As for signing players mid season, I think there is a rule that says you need to sign players for next year by the end of June. The Storm are doing exactly the same.

I also think that Sheens has reached his use by date. His selections every week are mind blowing in their incompetence. Replacing Big Red with Moltzen, who replaces McKinnon at fullback. Picking the best halfback in the club and playing him at 5/8\. Playing a 5/8 (Lui) at halfback even though his form entitles him to be playing z grade.

As I said we need some more backs. We have couple in the lower grades, the young Fijian comes to mind, Sironen is another.

Sheens indicated that we are enlisting more than Blair. Let's wait and see in the next couple of weeks what happens and not go off half cocked.

PS. Heino has not been told to go. He asked about his future and was told he is in the mix (as is every other player). He will be playing first grade but it could be off the bench. I think he would be a pretty good bench player. Actually a great one.

are you guys reading the article or making stories up, he has git two choices for next year be a benchie or leave i think its fair what sheens ahs done its honesty. but etill would like himeto say

MagpieCol Without knowing who we have signed for next season Sheens is basically saying that Dwyer is going to start over Rhino next season . If this is the case I have finally seen everything .
