Losing Beau will cost us about $500K

I dunno about Beau's tv career potential, everytime they've given him a decent role (co-host/panel member) he'd act like a 6 year old - it's embarrassing. Then again, Fatty…

I dont buy that. For mine he needs a big season next year as he hasnt earnt his money for a long time now.

That's fair enough, but you can say that he's not seeing the quality ball that he would in the Roo's.

What about the WT diehard Mum on footy show last week who names her son beau ryan.. How would she be feeling now he has signed with Sharks?

I'm not sure what these figures are based on - 500k? $1million? The only factors he could really have a baring on are gate receipts, sponsorships, merchandise and memberships.

Gate receipts - I don't think he's that popular that the masses are turning out based on Beau's availability. Besides he played Rd 26 and the crowd was dismal. The team's performance is a much much greater factor.

Sponsorship - I doubt any large corporation bases their sponorship decision on one player and if they did it would more likely be someone like Benji Marshall or Robbie Farah than Beau Ryan.

Merchandise - Maybe his popularity does sell some extra merch - no idea. I could see it happening but I think the numbers would be pretty low. Again I'd say team performances are a bigger issue here.

Memberships - If there is anyone cancelling their membership based on whether Ryan is at the club I'd be surprised.

Anyway the logical extension of this idea is that you'd be obliged to keep picking Beau not matter how bad his form got because his off field earnings are too big for the club to pass up.

Lets put it this way

When the kids are pretending to be someone at football practise , they aren't trying to be Beau Ryan (unless they are doing doggiessss)

They want to be Billy Slater ,Benji Marshall,Ben Barba or the like

We might lose some in sponsorship to a small degree but Benji is still on the Footy Show so the Tiger focus is still there

Smoking gun???
Beau seems to be quite a good winger, can finish a try and can grubber through the line and plant it down.
He isn't a superstar winger but Definitely not as bad a you paint him.

Rate the wingers of each club and where does beau sit?

IMO he would fall in the 26-32 range in the rankings. How can u rate a guy who didn't manage a line break in 24 games?

He isn't fast, he doesn't bust tackles and he is a bad defender. Tigers made the right call eventually, giving him a 3 year deal would of been atrosious

I remember a near individual effort at maybe leichhardt that was pretty special.

Yes NRL wise he isn't special, I don't know if I would put him as low as you.

He is safer under the highball than utai, he is a better defender also.
He makes less errors than Marika, no doubt Marika is going to be a better winger, that's some pretty raw talent!

He showed a lot of passion in the jersey, and wasn't the respect of everyone at the club.

Hes definatly the safest in the club under the high ball, but i will say Utai really impressed me this season with his work under the high ball, he really improved on it.I think last seasons woes were a result of playing park footy the year before that where he wouldn't really have been tested, I mean lets be honest you don't play as much first grade as he has without being able to catch a high ball. I can only remember 1 try this year, in the roosters game at the SFS where the opposition scored a try from a kick on his wing.

Utai really improved as player off the ball this year and is much more now than just a winger whose good for hard yards out of our own end

If you're gonna name your CHILD after a NRL player in this millennium, what did you expect.

Spot on, some people are so stupid they shouldn't be allowed to have kids.

Did u miss beau playing centre while Lawrence was out? Terrible defense, and before u say beau was playing oop, he was a centre his entire career prior to tigers

And Stryker, save it, beau isn't a big loss, infact he is easily replaced he offered nothing more then morale and a slap on the back.

Yer missin the point of this thread, which is no surprise

Youve hijacked it.

Look at me…look at me

Yes, How Lote was retained over beau is baffling

On the surface it seems strange.. Look a little deeper & maybe the rationale is the club wants an experienced level headed player to guide the likes of koro & noufa for 12 months..assuming at least one of these 2 end playing NRL in 2013\. If that is the case then I don't think Ryan was the man for the job.. Remember going to watch training when Koro first got his chance & he was clowning around with Beau for most of the session

You are missing the point, not making finals costs this club more then 500k, beau is part of the weak links, what do u wanna do tie up 200k + a season in cap space because he is on tv? And I doubt that beau actually brings inthat much revenue anyway. So we keep beau and lose a nofuloma? We keep beau and lose a BMM? we keep beau and Lose a sironen?

Finals appearances and prime time tv advertising space is where the money is, not being a clown on tv.

Now I've put you up to speed go sit in the corner little man, grown folk are talkin.

No ones doubting what youre saying.
No ones saying he shouldve been kept, its what we lose with him going
Theres more….much much more to us missing the finals than beau....you ignore that
You disregarding the OPs point and pushing your own is irrelevant...the OP is making a very valid point, that youre missing

Grown folk.....same grown folk that threaten to leave an anonymous net board???
I think Beau has a rival in thoughts of self importance
