What did you think. I thought he was good….much better than i expected. On the basis of that would you give him another season.

My gutfeel is no. But his experience would be valuable, maybe potter can set him some goals for preseason and if he meets these he gets a one-year minimum contract deal with incentives. Would be a good backup if we had a series of backline injuries. Depends I guess on what the other backline prospects we have.

The big question is Lawrence. I love the guy but he would need to be much better to hold his position in 2014.
 
Lawrence cannot expect a run up start to first grade in 2014\. He has lost a lot of speed and may have to face the way of Benji.
 
I thought Lote tried hard and didn't screw up but he was visibly off the pace.

Couldn't keep up with several line breaks.

I dont want to spend next year watching simona make a break with Lote trailing 15m behind in his wheel chair.

A wonderful footballer but father time is telling him to retire with grace.

Chris lawrence was my favorite footballer for a long time. Injury has robbed him of becoming the player he could have been, and i dont believe he can still operate as a high quality first grade footballer.
 
The Tigers have made the call to pull Lawrence out early for some much needed repairs. He's still quite young, so if his rehab is good we could see a good 2014 out of him. Remember this was the kid everyone expected to take Jennings' spot with NSW this year, instead he spent most of the year struggling to run at all. If he can regain some speed, he'll be a weapon.

Speaking of Origin, I wonder if Simona will decide he's from NSW or New Zealand. I can see him doing well in rep football in a few years.

**** I hope he Decides he's from NZ to tell you the truth their are so many players these days following the money.
 
I heard nofo and simona both said they will play for NSW.. I thought there was a post about it earlier or maybe I was dreaming ??

I'd like to think Lawrence, Richards and lote have to seriously prove themselves to get into the squad and are not walk up starts.

I dunno he showed a fairly clean pair of heels when he made that line break. Two weeks in a row Lote surprises me.

You are correct. Nofo and Simona both pledged to NSW. There was an article in the tele a few weeks back.

The issue i have with Lote is his inability to jump and get the ball cleanly - especially in our own goal area.
Lote should get a tip or 2 from Nofo and Teddy..
He defence looked better yesterday, looked aggressive like Thompson hitting people with the intend to knock them out cold.. That sort of aggression is could cause it lifts your team mates too
 
Patty will be a walk up starter for his goal kicking, he's also safer than Lote in defense.

Lote's turn speed and bomb defusing are both poor, and sadly those are two of the most important defensive abilities a winger needs. Lote can take hit ups ok (in the past he has had a tendency to lose the ball in the tackle however), but his speed is not particularly good.

It's a shame, and mostly his issues are resultant from his age. I hope he retires from the on field roles and moves into an off field one.

Lote can't jump for such a tall guy…I would not sign him for 2014...we have better backup options, as that's all he would be...there is no way he'd be ahead of Richards, Nofo, Korobeite, Simona or the other centre we signed...As a matter of fact I'd have Meany ahead of Lote.
 
If Lote sticks around for another season, he won't be on the wing. It will either be centre or backrow as reported a couple of weeks ago in RLW. Makes sense too given we have Koro, Nofo, Richards and Mr T all vying for FG.

As for Lawrence, hopefully the ankle surgery fixes his speed issues and he has a top pre-season. It would be nice to see him recapture some good form and he'll need to improve with Simona coming on in leaps and bounds and Lulia coming on board for next year.
 
Lulia may be a legitimate chance of nabbing a centre spot next season. If Lawrence starts 2014 in a similar fashion to this year he may have no other choice but to join the pack. It's hard breaking watching his demise. i really hope Chris can pull it together over the off season.

As for Lote I've been pleasantly surprised by his 2 games back from injury. If we have the cap space I don't see the harm in keeping him around for another 12 months. If injury strikes like it did this year he's a handy replacement. With a fully fit 17 I don't see him getting a spot ahead of Richards, Nofoaluma or Simona.
 
Lotes career is near to end but gee I would still love to see Lawrence turn a corner. The guy is a thorough professional if any one can I think it will be him
 
hope i am wrong but chris lawrence is a shadow of player he once was. i doubt that any other nrl club ( except for the sharks ) would take him if he was on the market. lawrence needs to earn his place next season and on this years efforts he is at the back of the field if everything is fair dinkum.
 
Agree Lote's spirit is willing but I believe that the aging body will let him down in saying that he's proven me wrong before. Regards Lawrence, years ago I thought that he should be playing lock and I still believe that he has something to offer the club in the 13 jumper
 
Lote Tuqiri hasn't ruled out the prospect of returning to rugby union with the former dual international set to make an announcement on his future in the next month.

Tuqiri is off-contract with the Wests Tigers at the end of the season and been told by the NRL club there's unlikely to be a new deal on the table.

The powerful winger has played in the Tigers' last two games having spent the best part of two years out of the game due to complications stemming from a broken arm.

And having struggled to get himself fit again the 33-year-old isn't ready to hang up his boots and keen to stay in the NRL or potentially have another stint in the 15-man code.

"I am going alright and if it's not here at the Tigers then it will probably have to be somewhere else," Tuqiri said.

"I am sifting through a few things at the moment and hopefully have something for everyone in the next couple of weeks.

"There are a few things there, I will just have to weigh them up with the family and take it from there."

Tuqiri, along with Wendell Sailor and Mat Rogers were tempted away from the NRL at the turn of the century to play for the Wallabies in the 2003 Rugby World Cup.

Tuqiri joined the NSW Waratahs on a lucrative deal from Brisbane Broncos, then spent time with English giants Leicester before linking up with the Tigers in 2010.

Although he and his young family are well settled in Sydney Tuqiri's open-minded about the prospect of moving inter-state or potentially overseas with Japanese rugby, who've long coveted his services, a possibility.

But the former Queensland star said the uncertainty surrounding his future isn't something that's concerned him.

"That's (rugby) an option as well, having some experience in it and we'll just see how the next few weeks pan out," he said.

"I have struggled in the past with the weight of expectation around contract-time but I am older now and I can just go out there and enjoy myself.

"I have put two games together now and hopefully I can see out the season. It's been a tough two years with injuries but hopefully I am over all that bad luck."

1\. James Tedesco
2\. Marika Koroibete
3\. Tim Simona
4\. Pat Richards
5\. David Nofoaluama

6\. Blake Austin
7\. Luke Brooks

That is a pretty good backline in my opinion, Koro has a bit of errors in him though.

Disagree, Lawrence needs at least a month in state cup at lock first.
