Lote resigned??

He is currently on his final year, unless something drastic happens I think an off field role awaits.

It's disppointing news. Even taking into consideration that Lote has lost form over the past two seasons he has provided West Tigers supporters with a lot of cherished memories. Everybody likes to remember a champion as he was when he was at the top of his game.

I think the club is keeping him around to help develop and translate for Korobete.

..the club is keeping him around because the incumbent coach allowed the only proven first grade winger in the club to go elsewhere!
Lote was a key back up plan to avoid throwing younger players in too early(although significant doubts as to whether he was still 1st grade quality after last 2 seasons)…but 4mths out...season (& probably Lotes career)likely done for us by then
Oh mr sheens..youve done it again!
Lets not even talk about props...

Lote has been a great player for Broncos, WT, QLD, Australian and that other code.

His forms over the last 2 years has been poor.

Age and injuries have caught up with him

My view

He is out for 4 months if we are doing well then the wingers ahead of him deserve their place, if we are struggling instead of bring back Lote, let's blood some junior talent with an eye to 2014\. either way there is no place for Lote at WT.

I hope he retires and frees up some money so we can purchase another prop.

….............Arm injuries have destroyed Tuqiri's past two seasons, with a broken forearm putting him out of action for most of 2011\. Not wanting to retire in the casualty ward he successfully pushed for a one-year extension.

However, it's still not certain whether the contract has been registered and Tigers boss Stephen Humphreys did not return calls last night............

Thnx for clearing that up, humpty

So Lote and Utai aren't proven FG wingers?

Maybe half a decade ago they were "proven" wingers ,but its 2013 …nether wld make any other run on first grade teams on the wing on recent years form tbh, altho Utai makes a good utility/reserve.
Re Lote..by the time he gets back in july(maybe)we'll either be contenders in which case we'll have a couple of wingers getting the job done,or we'll have fallen by the wayside in which case it wld make no sense to play a 34 yo winger when young blokes cld be getting valuable experience.

Regardless of how you justify it Utai was one of our best in 2012, so to say that Ryan was the only proven winger we had last yr is way off the mark

i think its safe to say humphreys had other things on his mind that night regarding mosese but regarding lote i think its best for the club to not register a contract if they havent and if they have get lote to come out and retire officially that way theres less impact on the cap we might be able to get someone like etu uasiele/fetuli talanoa amongst other wingers with experinece i believe who have no nrl club for 2013 if injury hits our stocks

Can't he be employed by the club in another capacity, therefore freeing up cap space?

Any money owed to him since the start of preseason would still come out of our cap, but yes if he retired as a player he would free up cap space. As long as Shuey was satisfied everything was on the level.

I wld have thought that if the contract hasnt been finalised, then it aint registered? All WT has to consider is whether we wait for him until July(?) to recover for what surely wld be his final season,or seek an alternative 25th player(a prop maybe?)
As far as Utai is concerned,he was invaluable last year but he's way too slow & too vulnerable under the high ball to be considered as a winger these days, but theres always a place in my 17 for his unsurpassed go-forward
