Anderson, I am not doubting you. Just strange that something of this significance is not mentioned in at least the other Sydney based paper. Only a couple of days ago the DT said we'd lost him and was off to union somewhere.

it said that his union deal could jeopadise his deal with us which is what humpreys meeting with gallop last week was to discuss. it never said we lost him which i went out and confirmed for everyone later that saturday.

im sorry to everyone on this forum as i feel my input has lead to alot of tension on this forum when i thought the news would actually be a happy thing for this club and members would also be happy as it is the biggest signing we've ever made.

Thanks for clearing it up.
Tension, only by those that want answers, and aren't prepared to wait. Also people reading the media, and then looking at what you have written.
So, no tension from me.

you guys are never happy, its 100% ive been saying this for weeks, there are other forum members who are in the know about this and we are the the only ones who seem to understand the little technicalities of this situation, our ceo has done a great job doing this deal, its been difficult and very technical.

the delay in the announcement is obvious but i know im 100% right there are other forum members who know all this is true, so just be happy that lote will be playing for WT in 2010!!

Most are happy for sure, and it does sound like you are on the money. But this is the internet you could be anyone, saying anything you like, can't expect people to take you at your word. I mean….most people wouldn't expect for sa second that I am actually typing this from space in a hybrid space shuttle with a parrot on my shoulder living as an environmentally aware space pirate. I accept that, no need to take things personally

**Don't apologise to anyone here, I for one appreciate any information anyone is willing to share**.

Couldnt have said it better myself…

I don't understand the need to wait until Tuqiri has finished his union stint (wherever that may be) before signing with us. Surely, as soon as he signs with the union team, he can then sign up for the NRL. It is like Scott Prince signing to play for the Titans starting in 2007 when he was still playing for us in 2006\. He has signed but won't transfer until the relevant date.

Well say we were to sign him for three years and he injures himslf while playing in union we are left paying that contract (unless a clause is built in).

I would say he has either given the Tigers a verbal agreement or has signed a letter of intent to join up after union stint.

Unfortunately I can't see the Tigers being in a position to announce anything in regards to Lote until his union commitments are up.

lets just hope at that stage the landscape hasn't changed.

Anderson i for 1 am glad to get your inside info as not much comes from anywhere else. and also lote will be a great signing by the club and with that brings sponsors and imo more tigers supporters. some people on here are never happy no matter what the club does. we have been crying out for some decent signings and at last 2010 looks like it will be a great year for the mighty tigers.

thats why its a dean ritchie exclusive, if it wasnt an exclusive story then it would be in every paper. and i normally dont care for what the papers have to say but dean ritchie does seem pretty reputable in his stories and i happen to know this one is true aswell, its not a very well kept secret

What Hybrid said, most enjoy your info, some people are never happy, good to have you on board.

Whatever the outcome, the Wests Tigers will want to get as much publicity out of it as possible.

Its a big story, just for not just Wests Tigers fans but sports fans in general.

Its a very smart move to drag it on for as long as possible.

I am a pretty crappy lawyer but even I could easily draft the contract to account for such a forseeability. I am very confident that even if a contract is signed before he plays union and het gets injured we wont be left out of pocket.

STATEMENT ON LOTE TUQIRI
Thursday, 29 October 2009
>
Wests Tigers wishes to release a statement in relation to the ongoing media speculation regarding Lote Tuqiri.
>
Whilst the club understands the wide public interest in Lote Tuqiri’s playing future, recent media reports suggesting Lote has secured a deal with Wests Tigers are purely speculative.
>
“We absolutely refute the suggestion today that Wests Tigers have agreed to terms with Lote Tuqiri,’’ said Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys.
>
“As I have stated publicly before, we are in discussions with Lote Tuqiri.
>
“We do expect him to make his intentions clear about his playing future shortly and whilst we are hopeful of securing his services, I must re-iterate at this point in time, we have neither verbally agreed to terms nor signed any agreement.
>
“We have been consulting with the NRL and support their stance in not allowing players to have guest stints with rival codes. We understand the rules and will comply with them at all times.
>
“Should Lote decide to pursue a path other than the NRL, he would do so without any guarantee of a future position at Wests Tigers.”

“We do expect him to make his intentions clear about his playing future shortly and whilst we are hopeful of securing his services, I must re-iterate at this point in time, we have neither verbally agreed to terms nor signed any agreement.

Hmmm….......that's pretty definative..........

Why the hell then are Foxsprorts running with the telecrap like it's a done deal.........

Thanks David............

So basically if he signs with union theres a good chance the tigers wont give him a contract, is that what that last line from humphries is alluding to?

just great. we are absolutely refuting this latest excusive story. I hope Lote can be this deceptive on the field - if he signs that is.

they just dont want the beans spilt before they are the ones announcing it, well its too late mw humphreys you may aswell let the cat out of the bag now.
