Lote Tuqiri thread

After 960 pages on Lote Tuqiri I think it would be safe to say that just about every base has been covered to what could be the worst kept secret in the NRL this year. It looks as though we're a 99% chance of signing Lote on what most people are saying that they're hearing. The only thing we haven't discussed is what the papers headlines will be when this is announced. What's your prediction???

I'll go with the overly clichéd …."Tigers Snare Lote"

Anderson are u as confident as previous posts suggest or do u think this deal may not come off?

let me take a wild guess. they still have to figure out how to draw up two contracts, one for union and one for us. And all the ramifications that comes with that bundle.

it has more to do with our major sponsor being the main contributor to lote's 3rd party deal and wanting to combine the 2 in the one announcement.

Is that a new major sponsor or current sponsor, Anderson?

Does sound like good news but I thought a 3rd party sponsorship deal had to be independent?
ie. can;t be a club sponsor & provide a 3rd party sponsorship deal? (without it coming under the salary cap anyway)
Hope I'm wrong

major sponsors can contribute up to 150k to individual 3rd party agreements is what im lead to believe, i dunno but im sure glad that it isnt my job to work out all the rules and crap reguarding 3rd party deals, our ceo has done a great job reguarding this.

i cant say mate, ive already been raked over the coals for putting lotes signing on here from my WT source, any major breaking news that i have will be done in pms i guess lol

If it comes under the salary cap anyway then I can;t see that it makes a difference who's paying it?
Wasn't the point of the 3rd party payments to be able to pay him more than we could under the cap?
ah well. As you say, glad I'm not trying to organise all this.

It does sound like the CEO is doing a quality job.

btw - you'd better apply for an extra large PM box

lol its already expanding mate.

the salary cap is 4 million a year with 3.5 million to be covered by the club and 500k can be made up in 3rd party deals with no one party contributing more then 150k to an individual player. i think each club is required to spend a minimum 3.2 million a year on salaries (i think, its very confusing)
