Lote Tuqiri

Did your mate note how much more potent he was back in league with some decent inside backs throwing him the ball cunno?

No Redemption he isn't fully converted to league, some people can't be saved. There can be little doubt that Lote compliments his teammates eforts and visa versa. Lote was wasted in rugby.

Could Lote become your next namesake/icon if he wins the GF (unlike Ellery) - Blackpearl????

PS - I also love Ellery after his 1988 performances for the Tiges - but in 1989 when he played for Wests - he spent more time at the Oxford Street bar/club strip with Martin Offiah than he did training!! (This is fact - but not a suggestion of homosexuality at all - both were picking up ladies le\ft & right!!!)

It is however no wonder he and Garry Schofield fell-out in that period - while they both played ordinary for Wests that year - despite being great for Balmain in previous seasons!

if, or should i say when the tigers win the comp this year i am only too happy to change my namesake / icon.

does lote have a ' nickname ' among the players anyway?

Lote will take the Tigers all the way in 2011,exciting season ahead.

He was known as "the dark shark" by his union team-mates! He even had the shark's fin try celebration! I don't believe the Tigers boys have come up with anything new.

Lote has been a good inclusion for wests-tigers.
put the opposition in two minds during season.
which in turn resulted in points being scored for wests-tigers.

He paid for his contract in my opinion when he bulldozed that nameless manly fullback in the first game And had him out for the season. The tries were just an amazing bonus.

Glad to see it is still at 100% in favour of the big fella!! I did predict that as the first to vote - a no brainer IMHO!!

Voted yes.
Although I think he has defensive lapses (moving out of position on every occassion I went to see a game);
and he is searching for a power play in attack, his positive impact on the team in general seems marked.
If Sheens and co can come up with a few new attacking moves he will help roll in a 2011 premiership (led, of course, by Farah and Marshall).
I am soooo excited!!!!!!!

100% with you (see my first post in this thread re: defensive positioning & high-ball defence) - but we all know how much he has done on & off-field to justify his coin!!!

Is he justified??? - 120%!!!!!

Red….that is becuase he was scarred from playing 7 years of Rugby Yawnion...Do wingers even have positional play in that god boring game.....

Now he has had a year back in the greatest game of all.....he will be sweet....

2011 Lortay's year to shine...

the poll is 56 zip BTW..Chris

No doubting the extra interest that Lote brought to the club immediately, and it is incredibly exciting to see him sprinting down the touch line with dreadies flying in the breeze behind him!
I was pleasantly surprised by several things such as his team spirit and his pace esp the second half of the season. And a little disappointed with his defence at times but he his a pro and will be sure to work on those areas that he may have lost touch with during his stint in union.
Overall well worth the money!!

They take long and high balls all day, it's just that none are ever under pressure and then they lob the ball infield for a centre or fullback to lob it back upfield. It's a redundant position in Union.

Completely agree with everyone here, he has slotted in well and taken over in the role as an attacking winger in the TNT's absence. When he's scoring 20 tries every season you'd be hard pressed to find anyone saying he's not worth the coin. Let's not forget also that this is an indictment on Chris Lawrence's ability to find his outside man and put him over the chalk.

Our backs are in great form.

In all honesty who do you guys rate better a fully fit Tuiaki or Lote? imo we havent seen the will be best of Tuqiri and after a full offseason he will be better again if i had to chose i would take Tuqiri.

A very difficult choice it will be great to have them both on the field at the same time- awesome. However to answer your question, a fully fit TNT playing as well as he was before he was injured compared to Lote whose form in 2010 was great, if I had to pick I would go for TNT a close second Lote.

Tuiaki in 2009 was the absolute best winger in the world (shading Brett Morris)!! Aside fom his attack - he rarely missed in defence and was great under the high ball!

On that form - Nella would be my pick - but Lote's presence cannot be underestimated!!

TNT is fantastic, Saying that, You should here our place when Lote gets the ball, winds up and fly;s down that wing, we nearly lift the roof off, money well spent, enough said !
