Lovett 47 tackles

Lots underneath the surface to Lovett. Rough as guts to watch play but most couldn't rack up 47 tackles. ET gets reverence for similar output and has way more experience. Maybe should start being pragmatic about Lovett.

Half his 'tackles' were third or fourth man flops.

I honestly think he can be a good player. He needs to get rid of the mistakes and we need a better pack around him.

Let's be honest though. He isn't Coen Hess or someone like that.

This, and he's been guilty of that since day one. All it does leave us a man short after a quick play the ball. Must have himself in his Fantasy side.

Hmm ..I'll have to watch again…always puts in... but It annoyed me very much when he threw the ball away...

exactly right cktiger

Half his tackles were third or fourth man flops? Some people need to look past their unfounded hatred for a young forward who always tightens up the the defence on the side he is playing. Today he ran hard, making good post contact metres and tackled everything that was thrown at him. If he wasn't first grade standard today, then I must have been at a different game.

Two coaches have now rated him as a first grade forward and I think I'll take their opinions over the haters.

I've got no hatred at all for him - just stated a fact that he's a flopper.
Also, the only way Cleary has him in firsts is due to injuries - do you think Littlejohn is a first grader as well?
The bloke tries hard but you don't have to be 'a hater' to form an opinion he's not up to first grade standard.

No, you stated an opinion that he's a flopper. not a fact. I don't understand how you can't see the defence tighten on his side when he plays. I don't know which second rower is injured atm but even if there is one, Lovett does his job well. He's not a champion but you need toilers like him in the side. One of our best today, from where I was sitting close to the play.

I thought he played well and said so in the game thread. He did a lot of percentage work off the ball. He wasnt the problem today.

I think he's average. He does try hard, of course, if blokes with real talent tried as hard as Lovett, we'd be going alright.

He defended alright but he's not anywhere near a dominant tackler. At least ET makes effective 1-1 tackles, many in cover. I don't see Lovett doing this. But he does alright in defence as part of the team.

McQueen is his upgrade, it's already done, I have no issues if Lovett hangs around for depth.

Thats the thing. We need a squad of 30 for next year. Lovett is no world beater but with him you know what you are going to get. Id rather keep a guy who tries his best for us for depth over uunder 20's players who think they are the second coming…
