Luke Brooks #167

if Brooks and Manly had missed the semis the pile on and I told you so's would be immense.
it is annoying for some on here that he did make the semis but to quote another former wests tigers alumni "it is what it is" ...
Go Manly today against Gus and the Dogs

I haven't watched a second of the other games this first finals weekend and am yet to decide whether to try catch any this afternoon, but certainly hope that Brooks goes okay in his first shot at finals since his junior days.

Of course Gus told him to go 🤮

Oh, and go Manly! (OMG! I can't believe I said that!!)
Gus is at the heart of everything! Anyway, I'd take Galvin over Brooks easy. Also us getting Latu and samuela seem to have been tied to them getting brooks so more good news for us.

I'm bitter because we're dead last and he's playing finals and that's an obvious and correct thing for media to use against us. But brooks' comments have been fine. Fair enough he thought himself a better chance of playing finals elsewhere. He, and the team around him, wasn't good enough here.

Anyway, I'm going for the super league, salary cap cheating low life Gus gould dogs because I hate reading articles about players loving footy away from the tigers, even if it is understandable.

“I applauded his decision to change clubs; I actually had a conversation with him during that period and I said, ’Look, you need to look after yourself now, you’ve done your best for the Tigers, you’ve stayed loyal when others haven’t,” Gould said on his Six Tackles with Gus podcast

This is Gold.... Gus advises him to go and we replace him with Laui and if Brooks stayed Laui would have been with the Dogs.. So Funny 😆 😆 😆 Karma and only hope Brooks smashed them today as well for cream on top

Brooks was looked after by the club more than
any other player there in his time - all who contributed to, and were also victims of poor management/outcomes.
Didnt get the onfield results but set him up financially for life. Gets to fulfill his footy goals elsewhere but he has plenty to be grateful for from Wests Tigers. As long as he acknowledges that without taking potshots - if he achieves what he wants footy wise at Manly good luck to him. He got whole lot more than the barbeque.

He was hardly hard done by . I agree with this . When you accept the 1 mil a season money you accept everything that comes with being a franchise player . The media , the scrutiny , but also on the other scale a lot of the top players get a “wow what pass, when they just passed it on” level hyperbole ! Cleary got a bit of that on Friday . Api gets a lot of that for us !
Good luck to Luke , but he was just as much the cause of our finals drought as he was the victim .

Agree it’s not about the BBQ. It’s about our inability to develop players. Our inability to create a sole purpose to excel the Wests Tigers brand above all competitors.
I hope Brooks goes all the way to the GF. It may be one of those messages which finally register with our 3 boards?

Don’t hate Brooks and don’t begrudge him any success. It was right for both parties that he moved onto greener pastures, 4 years sooner would’ve been better instead of trying ad nauseam to make something completely stale fresh again. It’s worked out well for him straight away, it’s just such a damn shame it hasn’t worked for us - dead last losers yet again.

Brooks was a failure here and was paid a million per year despite that. When you’re paid that much, there are expectations and he never met them in any of the 10 years he was here.

It also didn’t help that his obnoxious low IQ fanboys would use every excuse under the sun to explain why he was shitting the bed constantly and blame everything and everyone else.

Everything from the height of his wingers to having “football anxiety” (yes this was an actual excuse) was used to shift blame. I’ve never encountered a player who achieved so little yet had such a diehard following by a handful of morons on here who wouldn’t know a good footy player from a hole in the ground.

I’ve watched him at Manly and he plays no different to when he played here. The difference is he has superstars like DCE and Turbo to carry him while he chimes in every now and then with a classic Brooks blunder.

We obviously have some of his friends and family on here *cough* Jedi, paws *cough* who probably spend as much time on the silvertails forum as much as they do here. They always were Brooks first, Tigers second.

I'm happy for Brooksy to be playing semi finals football but I'm really happy that Mr "it is what it is" is nowhere near the team, actually how could he be because the guy is actually a dog.

One of our posters has an unhealthy obsession with Brooks and should seek professional assistance. Brooks has gone willingly and so let it go. I hope he achieves some success with the Eagles but all this rumination about Brooks is not worth it.
Fully agreed.

Actually I'd say there are a couple who are Luke Brooks fans first and foremost, with our club a distant second (or not at all).

No idea why they still post here.

Nothing was ever his fault.

He:
*Needed a dominant halves partner
*Needed to be allowed to run the team as the dominant half
*Needed a more dominant pack

Or
*HIs poor performances were the coach's fault (4 or 5 different coaches mind you).

Not sure how these reasons lead to him kicking a penalty touch-finder backwards towards his own goal line or killing multiple 5th tackle plays by running himself into 3-4 awaiting defenders but some people just see what they want to.

Thank goodness he's gone.
